Use Engineer approved equipment in good working condition <strong>and</strong><br />

providing normal output or production. The Engineer may reject equipment not in<br />

good working condition or not properly sized for efficient performance <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Work.<br />

For each piece <strong>of</strong> equipment used, whether owned or rented,<br />

provide the Engineer with the following information:<br />

(1) Manufacturer’s name or trademark.<br />

(2) Equipment type.<br />

(3) Year <strong>of</strong> manufacture.<br />

(4) Model number.<br />

(5) Type <strong>of</strong> fuel used.<br />

(6) Horsepower rating.<br />

(7) Attachments required, together with their size or capacity.<br />

(8) All further information necessary to determine the proper<br />

(9) Dates, daily hours, total hours <strong>of</strong> actual operation <strong>and</strong> idle<br />

(10) Blue Book rate with reference or category,<br />

(11) Amount<br />

(12) Applicable Blue Book hourly operating cost<br />

(13) Invoices for all rental equipment.<br />

b. Hourly Owned Equipment Rates. The base rate for the<br />

machine <strong>and</strong> attachments represent the major cost <strong>of</strong> equipment ownership, such as<br />

depreciation, interest, taxes, insurance, storage, <strong>and</strong> major repairs. The hourly<br />

operating rate represents the major costs <strong>of</strong> equipment operation, such as fuel <strong>and</strong><br />

oil lubrication, field repairs, tires, expendable parts, <strong>and</strong> supplies.<br />

For all equipment used on force account work, determine, <strong>and</strong><br />

have the <strong>Department</strong> confirm, the hourly owned equipment rates as follows:<br />

HOER = [RAF × ARA × (R / 176)] + HOC<br />

HOER = hourly owned equipment rate<br />

RAF = regional adjustment factor shown in the Blue Book<br />

ARA = age rate adjustment factor shown in the Blue Book<br />

R = current Blue Book monthly rate<br />

HOC = estimated hourly operating cost shown in the Blue Book<br />
