Thous<strong>and</strong> Board Feet, MBF (Cubic Meter). Measure timber by MBF (cubic<br />

meter) actually incorporated in the structure. Base the measurement on nominal<br />

widths, thicknesses, <strong>and</strong> the extreme length <strong>of</strong> each piece.<br />

St<strong>and</strong>ard Manufactured Items. When st<strong>and</strong>ard manufactured items are<br />

specified such as fence, wire, plates, rolled shapes, pipe conduit, etc., <strong>and</strong> these<br />

items are identified by size, unit weight, section dimensions, etc., such<br />

identification will be to nominal weights or dimensions set by the industry.<br />

109.02 Measurement Units. The <strong>Department</strong> will measure using either<br />

English or metric units as indicated in the Contract Documents. Use the Tables<br />

109.02-1 <strong>and</strong> 109.02-2 to convert units when required. If Tables 109.02-1 <strong>and</strong><br />

109.02-2 do not provide a required factor, then use the appropriate factor provided<br />

in the IEEE/ASTM SI 10.
