519.08 Basis <strong>of</strong> Payment. The <strong>Department</strong> will pay for accepted quantities at<br />

520.01 Description. This work consists <strong>of</strong> repairing the surface <strong>of</strong> concrete<br />

structures using pneumatically placed mortar where the depth <strong>of</strong> repair generally is<br />

less than 6 inches (150 mm).<br />

Use water free from sewage, oil, acid, strong alkalis, vegetable matter, clay, <strong>and</strong><br />

loam. Potable water is satisfactory for use in mortar.<br />

520.03 Removal <strong>of</strong> Concrete. In areas to be repaired, remove all loose, s<strong>of</strong>t,<br />

honeycombed, <strong>and</strong> disintegrated concrete, plus a 1/4-inch (6 mm) depth <strong>of</strong> sound<br />

concrete. Remove additional concrete as necessary to permit the placement <strong>of</strong> the<br />

minimum specified mortar thickness <strong>of</strong> not less than 1 1/2 inches (38 mm), except<br />

on top horizontal surfaces where it shall not be less than 3/4 inch (19 mm).<br />

Perform all work in such a manner as not to damage or shatter the concrete that is<br />
