City Workers Should Be Satisfied
i:
Starting on July 1 all municipal workers
ll" be paid at a rate $400 higher than their
current salaries. Starting next January 1 this
xatenrtll go up by an adifcUona} #400 so that
?uTthB men and women who work for the city
will have received an $800 annual wage
increase.,
'• Voters at the Municipal Election on May
9 approved the wage increase, obviously be-
Iteving that th* workers deserved it.
* Now, Ocean City"* municipal employes
should have, every reason to be satisfied with
their salaries. By comparison a good many
• "workers in private business here earn less
- money for comparable jobs
"£-"* City workers, most of them, receive 13,
are given sick leave when required, and in
some departments are permitted to build up
their sick leave so that upon their retirement
they receive, pay for a long period when they
are actually on terminal leave.
Finally, city workers receive free a group
life insurance policy worth $1,000. ^~
At a recent meeting of the Ocean City
Municipal Employees Association, the presi-
this insurance be increased m value at the
expense of the city.
