determined (in consultation with the <strong>Company</strong>), the customer is<br />

responsible for installing the first 10' section or sections of conduit<br />

on the pole, including any conduit elbows or standoff brackets as<br />

required. Any additional sections of conduit will be installed on<br />

the pole by the <strong>Company</strong> at the customer's expense. The customer<br />

is responsible for supplying all conduit and related hardware.<br />

If the conductors<br />

are to be owned by the <strong>Company</strong>, then the<br />

riser conduit (once installed on the pole) will generally become<br />

the property of, and will be maintained by, the <strong>Company</strong>.<br />

Galvanized steel conduit starting at a minimum of 18 inches<br />

below grade shall be provided wherever cable is extended above<br />

ground. In some cases, sunlight resistant schedule 40 or 80 PVC<br />

conduit, suitable for the purpose, may be substituted on the riser as<br />

detailed on Illustrations No.s 28, 29 and 30 in Section XII.<br />

Proper consideration must be given to possible<br />

frost action<br />

in the selection of type and method of installation of ducts.<br />

For a customer owned primary voltage riser, the customer<br />

is responsible for installing and owning the riser pole. This pole<br />

and the attached riser and conduits shall be constructed in<br />

accordance with the <strong>Company</strong>’s Construction Standards to include<br />

No.s 28 and 29 in Section XII. With prior <strong>Company</strong><br />

approval, the riser may be attached to a <strong>Company</strong> owned pole but<br />

the <strong>Company</strong> will perform all installation and maintenance<br />

work<br />

on the riser at the customer’s expense. The customer may also be<br />

assessed an annual pole attachment fee.<br />

When the riser pole is located in a State road right-of-way,<br />

it is the customer/developer’s responsibility to comply with the<br />

<strong>Maine</strong> Department of Transportation’s Utility Accommodation<br />

Policy for conduits within the <strong>Maine</strong> Department<br />

of<br />

Transportation’s right-of-way.
