(Two (2) 45° PVC bends shall not be used in lieu of a steel 90°<br />

911. DIRECT BURIAL PRIMARY CABLE<br />

Single-phase direct burial primary cable may be furnished<br />

and installed by the <strong>Company</strong> (at the customer’s expense) in the<br />

customer's trench or duct as provided below. Direct burial cable<br />

may<br />

be furnished and installed by the customer;<br />

however,<br />

particular notice should be made of the maintenance provisions<br />

of<br />

Paragraph 916.<br />

Direct burial cable shall be protected for 6 inches above and<br />

below by a bedding of soil containing no rocks. The remainder of<br />

the back-fill shall consist of clean fill containing no rocks larger<br />

than 4 inches in diameter. Bedding and back fill shall be free of<br />

roots,<br />

stumps and other debris. During back-filling of the trench,<br />

a plastic ‘ELECTRIC” marker tape (furnished by the <strong>Company</strong> if<br />

<strong>Company</strong> owned cable) shall be installed approximately 12 inches<br />

below final grade (and at least 12 inches above the cable per NEC<br />

Section 300.5).<br />

A suitable duct must be installed under public streets or<br />

ways, paved areas, driveways and all transmission rights-of-way.<br />
