permitted to contain receptacles rated up to 50 amperes w<br />

appropriate overcurrent protection.<br />

B. MANUFACTURED HOMES<br />

A manufactured home [a structure, transportable in one or<br />

more sections, that when erected on site is 320 square feet, or<br />

more; is built on a chassis (heavy I-beams) and labeled<br />

“manufactured home”; and is designed to be used as a dwelling<br />

with or without a permanent foundation], in accordance with NEC<br />

Section 550.32 (B),<br />

is permitted to have the service equipment<br />

installed in or on the structure, provided that all of the<br />

conditions of 1 thru 7 below are met. [Note, the term<br />

"manufactured home" (for purposes of this handbook) refers to a<br />

structure built since June 15, 1976; which should have a HUD<br />

label indicating that it complies with the Federal standard (HUD<br />

24 CFR, Part 3280). These homes are still often called mobile<br />

homes (single-wide or double-wide)].<br />

1. In accordance with the manufacturer's written<br />

instruction: the manufactured home must be secured in<br />

place by an anchoring system, or, installed on and<br />

secured to a permanent foundation in a manner acceptable<br />

to the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) or the local code<br />

enforcement officer;<br />

2. The service equipment is located in accordance with the<br />

manufacturer’s instruction and is installed in compliance<br />

with NEC Article 230 and Section VI of this handbook,<br />

and, is acceptable to the AHJ [Note, "service equipment"<br />

shall be marked "suitable for use as service equipment" and<br />

shall include a "service disconnect" per NEC Sections<br />

230.66 and 230.70;]<br />
