408. MOBILE<br />
HOMES AND MANUFACTURED HOMES<br />
A. MOBILE HOMES<br />
A mobile home [factory-assembled structure or structures,<br />
transportable<br />
in one or more sections, that is built on a<br />
perma nent chassis (heavy I-beams) and designed to be used as a<br />
dwelling without a permanent<br />
foundation] shall have the service<br />
equipment<br />
mounted separate from the structure in accordance<br />
with NEC<br />
Section 550.32 (A) and Illustration No.s 4, 5 or No. 9<br />
in Section<br />
XII of this handbook. Note, the term "mobile home"<br />
(for purposes of this handbook) refers to a structure built prior<br />
to<br />
June 15, 1976. <strong>Company</strong> approved prewired combination meter<br />
and service equipment may be used (See the “Supplement”<br />
located<br />
in the inside back cover of this handbook).<br />
The<br />
<strong>Company</strong> is not responsible for enforcement of<br />
the<br />
rules, e.g. NEC, beyond the service disconnecting<br />
means/overcurrent protection and service grounding; therefore, the<br />
<strong>Company</strong><br />
will not be determining whether or not<br />
an additional<br />
disconnect is required (within 30 feet of the<br />
unit) as a condition<br />
for activation of the electric service. As with any service,<br />
however, the <strong>Company</strong> reserves the right to refuse connection<br />
when doing so would create a dangerous or unsafe condition.<br />
G rounding at the disconnecting means shall be in accordance<br />
with<br />
NEC Section 250.32. The service cable installation (on the line<br />
side of the service disconnecting means) must meet all <strong>Company</strong><br />
standards for underground service, as applicable.<br />
In accordance with NEC Article 550, the service equipment<br />
shall be rated at not less than 100 amperes, and provisions shall<br />
be<br />
made for connecting a mobile home "feeder assembly" (4<br />
insulated conductors) by a permanent wiring method. <strong>Power</strong><br />
