SERVICE CHARACTERISTICS<br />
The<br />
following service characteristics<br />
are generally standard;<br />
however, all types of service are not available in all localities,<br />
those that are available shall be obtained from the <strong>Company</strong><br />
before any wiring is installed or equipment purchased. In<br />
cases of<br />
multiple occupancy installations, the combined load may be such<br />
that the<br />
characteristics of the service required will be different<br />
from that which the individual customer's<br />
loads might indicate. In<br />
such cases the <strong>Company</strong> reserves the right to determine the type of<br />
service wh ich will be supplied at 60 hertz. The maximum<br />
capacities as listed below may<br />
be exceeded, under certain<br />
conditions,<br />
with prior <strong>Company</strong> approval. Metering note: see<br />
para. 809<br />
and 810 of this handbook for metering options.<br />
A. 120 volts, single-phase, two-wire, (up to and including<br />
60 Amp)--<br />
For highway signs, trailers, traffic controllers,<br />
CATV<br />
amplifiers<br />
or other small power loads. The<br />
service from the<br />
<strong>Company</strong>'s facilities up to, and including, the meter shall be<br />
a 120/240 volt, single-phase, three-wire circuit. <strong>Company</strong><br />
approval must always be obtained in advance. Refer to<br />
Para. 409 for special requirements for travel trailers.<br />
B. 120/240 volts, single-phase, three-wire--<br />
For general lighting and/or heating and cooking, and small<br />
power loads with individual motors generally not over 5 hp.<br />
Where the total load exceeds 50 KVA, the <strong>Company</strong> may,<br />
at its option, require the customer to arrange the wiring for<br />
three-phase service.<br />
