X. SERVICE FROM UNDERGROUND MAINS -<br />
URBAN<br />
1000. GENERAL<br />
In areas where the <strong>Company</strong> maintains an urban<br />
underground distribution system, other than Underground<br />
Residential<br />
Distribution (URD), and the customer arranges to take<br />
service<br />
at the existing available voltage, the underground service<br />
connection<br />
between the <strong>Company</strong>'s mains and the customer's<br />
servic e entrance equipment will be furnished and installed in<br />
accordance<br />
with the requirements of this Section.<br />
1001. DUCT LINE INSTALLATION<br />
The <strong>Company</strong> will normally perform all necessary<br />
excavation and back-fill; as well as, furnish, install, own and<br />
maintain duct lines within the limits of the public street or<br />
highway.<br />
The customer does, however, have the option to construct<br />
(in accordance with the <strong>Company</strong> provided design and<br />
specifications), own and maintain the duct line within the limits of<br />
the public street or highway in accordance with the provisions of<br />
the MPUC’s Chapter 395 on “Construction Standards and<br />
Ownership and Cost Allocation Rules for Electric Distribution<br />
Line Extensions,”<br />
and, the <strong>Company</strong>’s filed tariff (T&C) on<br />
“ Extensions.” See paragraph 219 of this handbook for more<br />
details<br />
on customer constructed/owned lines.<br />
1002. TERMINAL BOX<br />
Wherever a terminal box<br />
is required on the customer's<br />
premises, it will be furnished and installed by the customer to<br />
meet the <strong>Company</strong> specifications.<br />
