was incorrectly identifi ed as take 6 instead of take 7). This is the line you’ll<br />

import for the region name. More on that later. The next text line:<br />

Column Field Description<br />

1 003 Event number. A series number that makes it easier to refer<br />

to specifi c edits.<br />

2 DVD09 Source. The originating media—the source roll, in this case<br />

a DVD made from a Cantar hard disk.<br />

3 AA Record channels. The channels in the session on which the<br />

sound was recorded (or edited), not the source channels.<br />

4 C Transition type: cut (C), dissolve (D), wipe (W), key (K), etc.<br />

5 13:38:11:02 Source start time. Where on the original fi eld recording, the<br />

event begin.<br />

6 13:38:12:23 Source end time. Where on the original fi eld recording the<br />

event ends.<br />

7 02:00:24:06 Record start time. Beginning of the event in the edited<br />

program.<br />

8 02:00:26:02 Record end time. End of the event in the edited program.<br />

is included by the picture editor to aid in fi le matching from the original<br />

Cantar BWF fi les. Cantar, like most hard-disk recorders, includes all of the<br />

takes from one shooting day in a folder whose name is the date of the recording.<br />

This information won’t be imported into the postconform, since it’s of no<br />

interest to you once you’re editing and because you can import only one text<br />

line per event.<br />

For the most part, that’s it. There are, however, a few quirks worth looking<br />

at. For example, the EDL event below includes a fade from black.
