RESEARCH REGARDING THE CONCENTRATION OF THIN JUICE AND
THICK JUICE

ABSTRACT
The thin juice boils off in an installation working on the multiple effects principle. The
process the concentration is based on is the vaporization through boiling the thin juice at
boiling temperature.
INTRODUCTION
The highest temperature sugar is submitted to during the technological process of cane
processing is in the first body of the installation and it has values of 126-129 o C. Due to
the high temperature and the time these temperatures are maintained, losses of sugar
occur and they are presented in table 1.

In figure 1 is presented the chart of a modern installation of thin juice concentration in a
sugar plant. This installation reduces to minimum the time for heating the juice,
ensuring the decrease of thick juice dyeing. The capacity of such an installation,
manufactured by the French company MAGUIN, is of 14000-20000 t cane/24 hours.
