1.1.2 Wine-growing region Podişul Transilvaniei
2006 was a year of quite reduced thermic resources, with an average annual temperature of
9.9°C and a pluviometric regime of 589.4 mm close to normal (644.6 mm) (Tabel 1).
During winter there were low temperature values, the lowest being -20.3°C (in January),
partially affecting buds viability of the sorts sensitive to frosty weather, requiring cutting
compensations in spring.
Vine started vegetation later, but the richer thermic resources during summer led to
recovery of this delay, the vegetation development being normal. During August the
haziness was high and there were massive rainfalls (169,4 mm), leading to a delay of grape
maturation and creating favourable conditions of Botrytis cinerea attack. The first frost was
recorded on 17.10 (-2.8°C).
