The juridical settlement of the Bihor – Hajdú-Bihar Euroregion was created by a private
law contract, whose settlements and provisions are available only on the Euroregion’s
territory. According to the Statute and Agreement of Association of the two counties,
the main objectives of the partnership between the two territorial-administrative
authorities are:
• Encouraging the plan for unitary development of the rural communities in both areas;
• Encouraging the development of communities both locally and regionally, based on
the existing natural and human resources;
• Stimulating the native efforts for community’s development and promoting local
initiatives;
• Reinforcing the partnership and creating a network between different regional and
local non-governmental organizations, local administrations and the business sector;
• Reinforcing the managerial capacities of local and regional non-governmental
organizations, as well as those of local administrations.
4. CONCLUSIONS
The Bihor – Hajdú-Bihar Euroregion has a common natural and cultural heritage. For
the conservation of those common values, concrete forms of cross-border cooperation
are necessary.
The European project of Euroregions and cross-border cooperation between
neighbouring communities is built on the common patrimony of European societies, on
specific national principles, values and regulations, which may be identified in the two
counties reunited into the Bihor – Hajdú-Bihar Euroregion.
The consideration of all these aspects will open new long-term perspectives for a
sure and durable development of the Bihor – Hajdú-Bihar Euroregion and for the
inclusion of its inhabitants into the world development circuit.
In accordance to all of the above, the Bihor – Hajdú-Bihar Euroregion maintains a
high functionality, which we believe to be accentuated by the position of the two
associated counties at the border between two different political entities, with common
collaboration and cooperation premises, which render viable the existence of the studied
Euroregion.
