communication between the two associated territorial systems, which ensures a crossborder
flux similar to the one in other European countries.
- The local administrative organisms of the Euroregion established as priorities
those actions that refer to the consolidation of administrative-institutional capacities,
which will ensure their practical role, but also the creation of an informational
framework regarding the potential of the cooperation between Romanians and
Hungarians.
- On both counties’ territory, there are important natural resources and anthropic
edifices, marked by landscape diversity and a natural complementary background. This
provides a special potential for tourism within the Euroregion. For this purpose, “The
Romanian-Hungarian Corridor for Conservation of Biodiversity” was created in the
wetland ponds’ area of Cefa, in the Natural Zoological Reservation from Rădvani
(Romania), as well as in the Körös-Máros National Park (Hungary), locations that are
actually situated “in mirror position” from one another.
The variety of
geographical conditions
is essential for a unitary
development of the
Euroregion, because it
can lead to multiple
possibilities of land
usage. In other words,
the Bihor – Hajdú-Bihar
Euroregion develops
according to its natural
conditions (industrial
activities in the
mountainous zone,
agricultural activities
and services in the other
areas) (fig. 4).
If we compare the
two counties, we can
see that the industrial
sector still plays the
most important role,

especially in the economy of Bihor County, unlike in the Hajdú - Bihar County, where
the services segment is dominant. At the same time, the general trend is to diminish the
importance of agriculture, in favour of increasing the one of services.
