Scarce edition of the first French Herbal, first published in Besançon in 1478 “Le Grant Herbier was repeatedly printed in France, where it received heary use by owners who seem to have subjected it to more than average wear... Complete and undamaged copies are almost unheard of. The work is also excessively rare in either 15th or 16th editions” (Anderson).
