many diagrams and wood illustrations in text, 9 full page
are astronomical instruments. “Tycho’s observations of the
supernova and comet led him say: nothing new could be born
in the heavens”. Despite its title, this work contains only the
Protogymnasmata (1602) about the 1572 supernova in
Cassiopeia and De mundi aetherei (1588), observations of
the great comet of 1577. Tycho’s observations of the supernova
and comet led him to abandon the Ptolemaic
concept of heavenly spheres. Second edition of a basilar
study on the sun and moon, together with a catalogue of
777 stars, complete with the 2 leaves of dedication and
with the 4 page index missing in some copies; uncut copy,
