Service description: Heartstart is a health promotion, chronic disease<br />
prevention <strong>and</strong> cardiac recovery program <strong>to</strong> help people <strong>to</strong>ward a healthier life.<br />
<strong>Services</strong> include (1) health information/education on heart health, blood pressure,<br />
cholesterol, exercise, reducing risk fac<strong>to</strong>rs for chronic disease, healthy eating, food<br />
<strong>and</strong> nutrition; (2) health action education series <strong>and</strong> (3) track walking, advanced<br />
walking <strong>and</strong> fitness training <strong>and</strong> water walking exercise sessions. Free health<br />
action health education sessions are held at the qld ambulance service (bourbong<br />
street) on Thursday's 10.00am <strong>to</strong> 11.15am. Track walking sessions based on<br />
exercise physiology principles are conducted Monday's, Wednesday's <strong>and</strong> Friday's<br />
at our walking track in north bundaberg. Water walking exercise classes are also<br />
conducted at beginners <strong>and</strong> advanced levels <strong>to</strong> assist people with chronic diseases<br />
improve their health <strong>and</strong> wellbeing. Contact the program manager <strong>to</strong> participate<br />
in heartstart programs or for more details about any heartstart services.<br />

Service description: A nationwide, non-political organisation endeavouring <strong>to</strong><br />
reduce discrimination at all levels of government against retirees who do not<br />
receive a full pension. An important aspect of each meeting is a guest speaker.<br />
Chosen from all walks of life, each speaker's <strong>to</strong>pic is related <strong>to</strong> the basic<br />
fundamentals of retirement, such as health, lifestyle, finance <strong>and</strong> government<br />
services. Time is allowed for questions. Membership is open <strong>to</strong> all retirees who<br />
are not receiving a full government pension.<br />
