Service description: Blue Nursing provides nursing care at home by a team of<br />

community health care professionals. In addition <strong>to</strong> nursing care, blue nursing<br />

staff may coordinate <strong>and</strong> liaise with other health professionals <strong>to</strong> ensure the<br />

patients needs are met.<br />

Service description: the service provides a high quality, complete breast cancer<br />

screening <strong>and</strong> assessment service free of charge for women over 40 years of age<br />

including information about breast cancer <strong>and</strong> breast screening; free breast<br />

cancer screening; follow up of abnormalities found on the breastscreen;<br />

counselling; referral treatment if breast cancer is detected <strong>and</strong> an invitation for<br />

rescreening every two years. A doc<strong>to</strong>r's referral is not necessary. Women aged<br />

50-69 are especially encouraged <strong>to</strong> attend every two years as the biggest risk<br />

fac<strong>to</strong>r for breast cancer is age with 70% of all breast cancer diagnosed in women<br />

over the age of 50. Parking is available <strong>and</strong> this service is located next door <strong>to</strong><br />

the red cross blood service, access via queens park road. Tty <strong>and</strong> interpreter<br />

services are available for women with special needs. A satellite service is available<br />

at Hervey Bay <strong>and</strong> rural areas are serviced every two years by the breastscreen<br />

Queensl<strong>and</strong> <strong>Bundaberg</strong> service relocatable service.<br />
