Dla Państwa (podróżnych) bezpieczeństwa i komfortu, Polska Agencja Żeglugi Powietrznej, której mam zaszczyt prezesować, buduje w Pyrzowicach nowy ILS (Instrument Landing System) oraz wdraża nowy system zarządzania ruchem lotniczym – – Pegasus 21. Instrument Landing System (ILS) jest jednym z kilku systemów wspomagających lądowanie, wykorzystywanym głównie przy złej pogodzie, zaś system zarządzania ruchem lotniczym „Pegasus 21” jest niezbędny dla bezpieczeństwa i punktualności podróży. Obydwie inwestycje rozpoczną swoją pracę na lotnisku jeszcze w tym roku. Mam nadzieję, że nasze prace, których efekty są dla podróżnych zwykle niedostrzegalne, będą przekładały się na utrzymanie wysokiego poziomu bezpieczeństwa ruchu lotniczego i punktualności. It guides aircraft in landing along a predetermined route. Although the ILS installed at <strong>Katowice</strong> <strong>Airport</strong> will function in the same way as at other airports, it is, techonologically, the most advanced. thales, the world leader in the production of such systems, has installed a highest category III ILS at <strong>Katowice</strong> <strong>Airport</strong>, thus making it equal with the highest category ranking sysems in the world. “Silesia <strong>Airport</strong>” – The Presidents Foreword the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA) is delighted to observe the growth of Silesia’s airport. the prognosis of the record due to take place this year at Pyrzowice serves only strengt-hen my conviction that decisions concerning in-vestment projects at Pyrzowice were accurate. At a time when media reports inform us of the troubles of airline after airline and forecast impending doom on the entire industry, information regarding 1,7 million passengers passing through our airport so far this year, and the high possibility of the airport reaching a record-breaking 2 million passengers utilising its services before the end of the year, is an optimistic signal proving that a slowing of the aviation industry is not necessarily a predetermined fact. the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency, of which I am proud to be President, is building a new Instrument Landing Sys- tem (ILS) at Pyrzowice <strong>Airport</strong> and is also introducing the new Pegasus 21 air traffic control system for the increased comfort and safety of passengers. The ILS is one of several instrument landing approach systems particularly valuable in inclement weather, whereas the Pegasus 21 air traffic control system is essential for not only the safety of passengers, but also the reliability of flights. Both of these investments will be up and running by the end of this year. I sincerely hope, that our work, which is in the most, impercep- tible to passengers will translate into maintaining the high level of punctuality and airline safety synonymous with <strong>Katowice</strong> <strong>Airport</strong>.
