The Verein Berliner Künstler was founded in 1841
as an independent, self-governing union of artists
from Berlin; at their residence near Potsdamer
Platz the association holds diverse exhibitions and
discussion events.

Printing in the Verein Berliner künstler
The printing techniques displayed in the joint
exhibition range from relief, intaglio and flat
screen printing to monotype and photomechanical
techniques such as digital printing. The exhibition
includes works by Michael Augustinski, Jutta
Barth, Ute Faber, Hans-Jürgen Gabriel, Axel
Gundrum, Claudia Hartwig, Ina Lindemann, Peter
Th. Mayer, Peter Moeller, Manfred M. Sackmann,
Michael Schulze, Evelyn Sommerhoff, Hermann
Spörel, Andrea Streit and Jürgen Tenz.

In the former Karl Bonhoeffer Psychiatric Clinic the
exhibition totgeschwiegen (»hushed up«) shows the
hospital’s history under the Nazis.
Permanent exhibition
hushed up 1933–1945
The history of the Wittenau sanatoria is presented
in the exhibition, which remembers the medical
crimes committed during the Nazi period. Central
themes include forced vasectomies in the former
Wittenau sanatoria, the role of the clinic in the
T4 »euthanasia« campaign and the killings of
disabled children in the Wiesengrund pediatric
department.
