Hand_Work: 500 Years of Technology, Function<br />

and Design<br />

The exhibition presents the astounding milestones<br />

reached in the history of the development of<br />

artificial hands. It shows how the gap between the<br />

natural ideal and the technical reproduction has<br />

narrowed with every new insight into the functionality<br />

of hands.<br />

Why is the sky blue? Can you see heat? How does<br />

a plane stay up in the sky? The centre answers these<br />

questions and many more with 250 interactive exhibits<br />

spanning science and technology.<br />

The lightning machine hisses and sparks, in the<br />

plasma ball a mysterious light is moving and<br />

rotography slides create glowing patterns, ever<br />

changing anew.<br />

Discover a fascinating electronic musical instrument<br />

which plays music without being touched –<br />

the theremin.<br />
