(1935–1956). © RMN/Adam Rzepka The Sammlung Scharf-Gerstenberg displays masterpieces by the Surrealists and their predecessors, covering a spectrum from Piranesi, Goya and Redon to Dalí, Magritte, Max Ernst and Dubuffet. special exhibition Brassaï Brassaï. Im Atelier und auf der Straße The Sammlung Scharf-Gerstenberg and the Museum Berggruen (directly opposite) host an unusual double exhibition from the Nationalgalerie with works by the Hungarian photographer Brassaï (1899–1984). Alongside his fellow countrymen André Kertész and Henri Cartier-Bresson, Brassaï was one of the three greats of the 1930s French photography scene. The Sammlung Scharf-Gerstenberg’s focus on Surrealism casts a look at the dark and unworldly »other side« (Kubin); here Brassaï »Graffiti« pho- tographs are displayed – pictures given life by the anonymous scratched images on walls and buildings. Like prehistoric cave paintings they appear as messengers of far-off worlds, which at the same time touch the deepest layers of our own lives. 7.30–11.30 pm� hourly Guided tour (in German) 5 scHloss BRItz Schloss Britz. © Kulturstiftung Schloss Britz Originally dating from 1706, the palace has preserved the rich decor of the late 19th century, offering visitors an insight into the living culture of this period.
