The Märkisches Museum tells the history of Berlin
from its origins to the present day, housed in an
impressive building complex build by Ludwig Hoffmann
from 1899–1908 in North German architectural
style.

Playing Shops

Small Things for the Shop
In the workshop visitors can create boxes, pa-
ckages and other small objects which every child
can use. The fittings of the Playing Shops exhibition
offer inspiration for handmade creations.

Like dressing up?
In the exhibition ‘What’ll it be?’ children can
play shops, guess weights and weigh items.
As a special treat they can put on hats and
accessories and slip into the roles of salesperson
and customer.

Music
»When night Falls... ...«
Berlin melodies, played on mechanical musical
instruments, a gramaphone and an Edison
phonograph
from 8.00 pm � hourly
Music in the courtyard
Sinti Swing Berlin
The band »Sinti Swing Berlin« play lively, authentic
swing in the style of the Parisian »Hot Club
de France«. A hint of Vienna, an air of French
musette and a slight touch of Hungarian Csárdás
give their music a special charm.
