The Kunstgewerbemuseum, the oldest of its kind<br />

in Germany, possesses one of the most important<br />

collections of European skilled craftwork,<br />

ranging from the Middle Ages to the present. The<br />

museum’s display includes silks, costumes, tapestries,<br />

decorative furniture and pieces in gold, silver,<br />

glass, enamel and porcelain.<br />

clock strikes every hour with a musical piece;<br />

whilst the musicians of the marquetry intone the<br />

prelude of the »Opera seria l’Olimpiade« by Metastasio,<br />

secret chests and hidden compartments<br />
