The Gemäldegalerie owns one of the most significant<br />

collections of European paintings in the<br />

world, covering the period from the 13th to the<br />

18th century. Systematically extended since its<br />

founding in 1830, the collection includes masterpieces<br />

from van Eyck, Bruegel, Dürer, Raffael, Tizian,<br />

Caravaggio, Rubens, Rembrandt and Vermeer.<br />
