From the first fire regulations around 1650 to the<br />

history of the Berlin Fire Brigade, including<br />

Founded in 2010 the formDDR association collects,<br />
researches and exhibits GDR design from<br />
1949 to 1989.<br />
Permanent exhibition<br />
40 years down the drain<br />
In the listed building of the former Karl Marx<br />
Bookshop formDDR presents mainly industrially<br />
manufactured products, from furniture and<br />
household items to a whole range of toys. Both<br />
accepted design classics and little-known designs<br />
are on display. The exhibition contradicts the<br />
stereotype of GDR design as inferior, drab or dull,<br />
presenting a wealth of artistic qualities.<br />
