The museum dedicated to the blind has a collection<br />

of over 1000 exhibits including various aids<br />

for the blind, books, photos and paintings.<br />

Six Right! Louis Braille and Embossed Printing<br />

In 1825 the young Frenchman Louis Braille invented<br />

the six-dot system and opened the door for<br />

blind people to participate in education, careers<br />

and culture. This simple and ingenious writing<br />

system spread around the world, made the leap<br />

into the computer age and, in spite of mo<strong>der</strong>n<br />

speech programmes, is still used in the current<br />

day.<br />

various writing systems leading up to the Braille<br />

six-dot script and the different areas of use for the<br />

script. They can write their own Braille and try out<br />

different aids that improve the daily lives of blind<br />

people.<br />

In cooperation with the Blindenhilfswerk Berlin<br />

e.V. (Blind Relief Organisation, based at 15 Rothenburgstraße,<br />

about 100m from the Deutschen<br />

Blinden-Museum), visitors have the opportunity<br />

to experience the Garten <strong>der</strong> Sinne (Garden of<br />

the Senses), relying on their senses of taste, smell<br />

and touch. Refreshments are available from the<br />

Dunkelbar (Dark Bar).<br />

Cult, original, unique: the Berlin curried sausage<br />

now has its own museum, offering an exhibition<br />

experience for all the senses.<br />

Everything exciting, interesting and mysterious<br />

you need to know about the Currywurst. The<br />

virtual preparation of Currywursts, a spice rack<br />

with smell tests, a sausage sofa to relax on, a<br />

ketchup bottle audio station with Currywurst<br />

songs and a look backstage at a sausage stand<br />

are a few things you can look forward to. The interactive<br />

exhibition invites visitors to join in and<br />

try things out – including the delicious cuisine<br />

on offer.<br />
