A number of voluntary, self-imposed obligations exist for the chemical industry in<br />
the Federal Republic of Germany. Some of them are listed here as examples.<br />
However, these agreements can only supplement state control in the area of<br />
chemicals management, and not replace it. These self-imposed obligations do not<br />
apply to companies which are not affiliated to the particular industry association.<br />
