STUDIO <strong>100</strong> MEDIA’S RE-MASTERED CLASSIC HEIDI FINDS A<br />

HOME IN AUSTRIA<br />

Munich, November 19th, 2012 – Studio <strong>100</strong> Media has signed a license ag<strong>re</strong>ement<br />

with Austrian public broadcaster ORF for the new <strong>classic</strong> animation series Heidi (39 x<br />

22’).<br />

The license ag<strong>re</strong>ement f<strong>in</strong>alized dur<strong>in</strong>g MIPCOM 2012 gives ORF exclusive F<strong>re</strong>eTV<br />

rights for the newly <strong>re</strong>-maste<strong>re</strong>d 3-D/ CGI animation series <strong>in</strong> Austria and South Tyrol.<br />

Written by Swiss Author Johanna Spyri <strong>in</strong> 1880 as “Heidi´s Years of Wander<strong>in</strong>g and<br />

Learn<strong>in</strong>g”, Heidi has become one of the best-sell<strong>in</strong>g books ever written and is among<br />

the best-known works <strong>in</strong> Swiss literatu<strong>re</strong>, with 50 million books sold and translated <strong>in</strong>to<br />

over 50 languages. The Heidi anime-series p<strong>re</strong>mie<strong>re</strong>d <strong>in</strong> 1977 on ZDF <strong>in</strong> Germany and<br />

has s<strong>in</strong>ce enjoyed cont<strong>in</strong>uous TV p<strong>re</strong>sence <strong>in</strong> mo<strong>re</strong> than 46 countries. In addition<br />

over 4 million DVDs and over 5 million CDs have been sold and <strong>in</strong> excess of 33<br />

<strong>in</strong>ternational licenses for merchandis<strong>in</strong>g products have been assigned for categories<br />

like Consumer Electronics, Food, Home & Liv<strong>in</strong>g, Personal Ca<strong>re</strong>, Promotion,<br />

Stationary, Textiles and Toys and Games.<br />

After the acquisition of “Maya The Bee” and “Vicky the Vik<strong>in</strong>g” <strong>in</strong> 2011, ORF is<br />

complet<strong>in</strong>g the package of the new <strong>re</strong>vised animation 3-D/CGI <strong>classic</strong> series with<br />

the procu<strong>re</strong>ment of Heidi.<br />

The popular and iconic animated series will be <strong>re</strong>vived and modernized <strong>in</strong> 3-D/CGI<br />

and will be produced by Studio <strong>100</strong> Animation SAS and Fly<strong>in</strong>g Bark Productions.<br />

Heidi is set for delivery at the end of 2014, with Studio <strong>100</strong> Media <strong>re</strong>sponsible for the<br />

worldwide distribution.<br />

Comment<strong>in</strong>g on the ag<strong>re</strong>ement, Dr. And<strong>re</strong>a Bogad-Radatz, SVP of Film & Series at<br />
