BIG
Hero # 1
Big
Gentle
Dreamer
Graceful
Occasionally indecisive
Annoyingly tidy
Easily distracted
Big is quite mellow. He takes things as
they come. And he’s full of projects that he
never finishes. But that’s ok. Big didn’t
really know what lay beyond his home,
his garden and his pond until Small
came into his life.
SMALL
Hero # 2
Small
Loud
Exuberant
Always in a hurry
Acts first, thinks later
Melodramatic
Boastful
Small enjoys being small.
It suits his personality. Life is a huge,
grand adventure to him. Small used to
travel quite a bit, but now he’s found
Big and his new home.
‘Big & Small’ follows the adventures
of two pals who are very different but
the best of friends. Big lived happily
alone in his cosy house in the country
– but when Small arrives he realises
that he’s been missing someone to
share his life. Even one who turns his
world upside down! Whereas Big is
a dreamer – considerate, thoughtful
and fair, Small is fast, loud, exuberant
and dramatic.
Their difference in size means they
have different perspectives on the
world. Big is entirely comfortable in his
house and garden, although he loves
to look up at the stars and is always
inventing fabulous machines, whereas
for Small the world is a never-ending
adventure – racing in his toy car,
exploring a mouse hole or tickling
frogs! Their special friendship is
defined by their differences – but it’s
strong, genuine and includes lots
of kindness, tolerance and laugher.
• Big and Small approach the world in a childlike but not childish manner.
Children will identify with their problems but they will never feel patronised.
• Kids will learn valuable lessons on perspectives. It’s hard for some children
to understand that people see things differently, but this is at the heart
of Big and Small’s friendship.
• The keywords of ‘Big & Small’ are: smart, engaging, provocative,
entertaining
• Unique, memorable characters
interior and exterior worlds
