Rabies clinic and dog license renewals
The City of Temple City will sponsor a public
Rabies Clinic from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Friday, July 10, at Temple City Park, 9701 Las
Tunas Dr. The cost of the rabies vaccination
is $5 per dog. Dr. Pavlik from Community
Companion Animal Hospital will be on hand
to give the rabies vaccinations and to answer
questions.
Resident dog owners may also purchase
their dog license at the clinic. The license fee

is $34 or $17 for altered animals with proof of sterility.
Senior citizens, (65 years or older) may license
one altered dog per household, free of charge.
To qualify, proof of age must be provided in person
at the Animal Control Office. All Temple City
dog licensees expired on June 30 and must be renewed
prior to August 1, to avoid a late fee. For further
information, please contact the Animal Control
office at 5938 Kauffman or phone (626) 285-
7187.
Grand Ledge, Michigan. After
serving in the Korean War, Van
married his high school sweetheart,
Geneva in 1952. Later on
in the same year, they moved to
California and set-up house in
San Gabriel. In 1959, they relocated
to Temple City.
Van and Gen have three children,
son Steven and daughters
Lori and Amy. As parents, Van
and Gen actively took part in all

of their children’ activities. All
three went through Temple City
schools.
Now the Van Houten’s are
blessed with seven grandchildren.
Van and Gen recently celebrated
their fifty-seventh wedding
anniversary. They are a
fine example of a happily married
couple.
After thirty years of service,
Van retired from Pacific Telephone
Company as a relocation
manager. He then began organizing
day trips and extended
trips for his friends. This led to
the birth of his company:
ROTG, which is short for Retirees
on the Go.
For nineteen years he managed
to plan trips locally, across
the country and to Europe.
Even though Van retired from
ROTG, he most recently organized
a European trip for a
group of ten friends, including
himself and Gen. This will be a
riverboat trip leaving in August.
The trip will begin in
Amsterdam and end in
Budapest, Hungary.
Van will be home in time for
the Chamber’s Annual Installation
and Awards Banquet,
which takes place on Friday,
Aug. 28, in the Parish Hall at St.
Luke Catholic Church and
School. Formal invitations will
be mailed to Chamber members
and dignitaries. Watch for

of Temple City Life.

the community and congratulates
him on becoming the newest
Citizen of the Year.
