PRACTICAL INFORMATION<br />

At the kind invitation of the Covasna County Council (RO), the<br />

meetings will take place at the:<br />

Covasna town is also known as “the resort of the 1000 health<br />

springs®”. It b<strong>en</strong>efits from a mild climate, air very rich in negative<br />

ions and a picturesque landscape. The healing natural resources,<br />

unique in the country and worldwide, are made use of throughout<br />

the year.<br />

HOW TO GET TO COVASNA<br />

By plane: the nearest airport to Covasna is Bucharest (Otop<strong>en</strong>i-<br />

H<strong>en</strong>ri Coandă Airport) at the 215 km distance. The two regional<br />

airports – Tg. Mures and Sibiu are at 220 km.<br />

By car: access roads National Road DN 1 (Bucharest-Braşov), DN<br />

11- 55 km from Braşov (towards Bacău), turning on DN 13 Reci-<br />

Covasna.<br />

! Please note that shuttle transfers from airport to the meeting v<strong>en</strong>ue<br />

In order to optimise the organisation of the shuttle transfers, please<br />

let us know your travel plans as soon as possible!<br />

By train: if you take the train you should buy a ticket till Braşov. After<br />

arriving you should take the minibus located outside, next to the train<br />

station (Autogara in Romanian ) up to Covasna-Voineşti station. You<br />

should search for minibuses having the inscription ECOSIL. Please find<br />

below the timetable. One way ticket costs 12 lei (aprox. 2,5 Euro).

On Thursday, the 3 November buffet lunch and official dinner will be<br />

offered by Covasna County Council and it will be organised at the<br />

November (v<strong>en</strong>ue to be confirmed).<br />

Other G<strong>en</strong>eral <strong>information</strong><br />

Romania's curr<strong>en</strong>cy is Leu (plural "Lei") (pronunciation: lay).<br />

Foreign curr<strong>en</strong>cies may be exchanged at banks or authorized exchange offices (called: "casa de<br />

schimb" or "birou de schimb valutar"). International airports and larger hotels also offer curr<strong>en</strong>cy<br />

exchange services.<br />

Banks<br />

Bank business hours are from Monday to Friday, 09:00-16:30. Banks are closed on Saturday<br />

and Sunday and Public Holidays.<br />

Time Zone<br />

Sev<strong>en</strong> hours ahead of U.S. Eastern Standard Time (GMT + 2).<br />

Climate<br />

Romania has a temperate climate, with four distinct seasons. In Bucharest the average summer<br />

temperature is 24° C<strong>en</strong>tigrade (75° Fahr<strong>en</strong>heit), but during July and August it oft<strong>en</strong> exceeds 32°C<br />

(100° F). Winters are cold, with temperatures below 0° C (32° F). Apart from normal seasonal<br />

clothes, it is always advisable to pack a warm pullover, a raincoat and good walking shoes. Very<br />

warm clothing is recomm<strong>en</strong>ded in winter.<br />

Electricity<br />

The main electricity in Romania is 220 volts and 50 Hz. British and American outlets differ from<br />

the Romanian ones, so you may need to bring a transformer and/or adapter for your electrical<br />

appliances (it is not available at the hotel receptions).<br />

Insurance<br />

The Organizing Committee can accept no responsibility for accid<strong>en</strong>ts or damage to the private<br />

property of participants. Please make your own arrangem<strong>en</strong>ts for health insurance and any other<br />

insurance desired.<br />

Driving Lic<strong>en</strong>ce<br />

Car drivers must have their personal driving lic<strong>en</strong>se and international gre<strong>en</strong> card.<br />
