Dr Marco Romanelli
EUROPEAN PRESSURE ULCER ADVISORY PANEL
from the President
Dear Readers,
THIS is my last contribution as the President of EPUAP and I would
like to begin by remembering our colleague, Professor Gerry Bennett.
Gerry will be remembered by EPUAP both for his accomplishments
as a professional and for his sterling qualities as a person. He was an outstanding
physician and an effective teacher who enriched all of us with his
activity in the field of pressure ulcers. Even though I was not a close friend or
even a close colleague, I, like many others admired him greatly. Since the
foundation of EPUAP he expressed an eclectic interest in the progression of
the society, with his most recent contribution being the suggestion to develop
the nutrition guidelines which will be presented at our next annual
meeting in Tampere. In my interactions with Gerry he had a delightful, subtle
sense of humour that was expressed in the playful way in which he related
to those with whom he was familiar. The memory of Professor Gerry Bennett
will be held forever in inestimable esteem by each of us who were privileged
to know him.
The success and improvement of the EPUAP Review depends on the material
available to the production team, and this availability depends not
only on our trustees, but also on our many members. During my two years of
presidency a large number of contributions were submitted and many of
these were from different countries, reflecting the international readership
and widespread interest in pressure ulcer prevention and management. My
personal thanks go to Mike Clark for his invaluable hard work and continued
support of the Review. Thanks also to the Business Office in Oxford, Dr
and Mrs Cherry and Jane Green, who actively strive to keep improving the
EPUAP Review.
I look forward to working with the EPUAP in the future; helping to improve
future activities and also in making the EPUAP Review a valuable read
for all interested in research, prevention and management of pressure ulcers.
Marco Romanelli
President of the EPUAP
