asIC sysTeM seTUp Choosing a Location for your System Setting up a wireless audio system allows you much more flexibility than achievable with conventional wired speakers. Wireless speakers may be placed anywhere in the room, or in another room within 100 feet of the wireless main unit. Since there is no physical connection between the system components, feel free to be creative with your system layout. Wireless Music System are also wall-mountable for additional flexibility. Minimum Separation from Other Devices * To avoid interference, maintain the following distances between system components (wireless main unit and wireless speakers) and other electronic devices using the same radio frequency (2.4 GHz band). * The wireless audio system will automatically seek a clear channel if any other devices interfere with its communication. When this happens the “Link” indicator on the speakers (see page 11) will flash; and there will be a brief interruption in the audio coming from the speakers. This is the normal product operating procedure assuring the best possible performance of your wireless audio system. If the interference persists, try moving the other devices to another location, or to relocate the set’s main unit or its speakers further away from the interfering devices. A Word about Wireless Products The Wireless Music System with Wireless Speakers uses state-of-the-art wireless transceiver technology operating in the 2.4GHz frequency band. This is the same frequency band used for wireless LANs, microwave ovens and some cordless phones. The typical operating range in a residential or office environment is approximately 100ft. As with all wireless devices, the Wireless Music System operating range may vary depending upon building construction, building materials, atmospheric conditions and sources of interference. The presence of substantial amounts of metal or concrete in a building’s structure may reduce the operating range. NOTE: * Do not place the wireless main unit in a metal cabinet or bookshelf. * The operating range of the apparatus may be reduced depending on the thickness and material of your walls. basIC sysTeM seTUp Follow these 5 steps to complete basic system setup. 1. Choose a suitable location for the system components. * Remember that the wireless main unit and each speaker will need a power outlet in order to operate. 2. Connect the wireless main unit and both speakers to AC power. * The larger adapters are for the left and right speakers, the small one is intended for the main wireless unit. 3. Switch ON the wireless main unit and both speakers. * The system defaults to FM Tuner mode. You should immediately hear static from both speakers. * If you do not immediately hear audio from the speakers, please refer to Page 28 “Speaker Pairing” 8
asIC sysTeM seTUp 4. Select the Correct iPod Dock Adapter When connecting an iPod to this iPod Dock, please ensure that the correct adapter plate is used. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE iPod. To place a dock adapter This iPod Dock comes with 4 removable dock adapters. Using the correct adapter ensures the proper fit for your iPod and helps to reduce the stress on the connector when operating the iPod. 1. Press the OPEN button on the side of the wireless main unit to extend the iPod-dock drawer. 2. Refer to the compatibility table on page 18 and select the correct dock adapter for the iPod. 3. Place the proper adapter into the dock and press it into position. The adapter will only go in one way. The iPod dock connector should fit through the opening at the bottom of the adapter. 4. Carefully align and then gently insert the iPod into the dock. Remove any case or protection from the iPod before attempting to dock it. 5. Extend FM Antenna 6.
