Local Industry Media Assistance :<br />

<strong>The</strong> PR department provided area images and information to McCormick Marketing for use in the Shop America/Shop<br />

Florida Alliance; Assisted the Tampa Bay Cl<strong>as</strong>sic golf tournament with tourism demographics for international<br />

markets;<br />

Provided an area map of current bridge construction for the Sirata Beach Resort to distribute to a<br />

group meeting at<br />

the property; Assisted the St. Petersburg Pier with area media contacts for their Honda Grand<br />

Prix VIP event; Provided the City of St. Petersburg with information on Spring Training for their marketing<br />

department; and Provided images of the CVB’s Culinary Competition to the Tarpon Springs Chamber of Commerce for<br />

their marketing purposes.<br />

Assisting other CVB and <strong>County</strong> Departments:<br />

We <strong>as</strong>sisted several other departments with ongoing projects including: Assisted the CVB Special Events<br />

Department with the Oh Boy! Redfish Cup; Assisted the CVB Film Commission with HGTV shoot promotion; Assisted<br />

Canadian tour operator,<br />

Fun Sun Vacations, with images of our area to be included in an email bl<strong>as</strong>t to travel<br />

agents; and Worked with the CVB Convention Services department to provide the ACES Gift B<strong>as</strong>ket Convention with<br />

local media resources for their meeting at the Heritage Holiday Inn in St. Petersburg.<br />

On-Going Projects:<br />

Each month, the PR department is charged with updating the CVB’s website calendar of events, and compiling, editing and distributing two editions of the E-News<br />

CVB update. We also regularly research and answer contact form questions submitted by consumers to CVB website. Mary, James and I are also members of several<br />

area tourism committees for area attractions and events, and the department attends the county’s News Communications meetings.<br />

Outdoor/Nature PR Activities:<br />

AuCoin & Associates, our Nature/Outdoors PR firm, gave two seven-minute<br />

interviews to Jim Ferguson’s Great<br />

American Outdoor Trails radio network (49 stations in the great plains states, 3.5 million households),<br />

promoting the wade fishing opportunities and the great birding in April at Fort De Soto Park. <strong>The</strong> firm also met<br />

with Tampa Bay Watch and initiated discussions to publicize tourist participation in its stewardship programs;<br />

met with Indiana newspaper columnist Don Bickle; and edited and prepared to distribute to media four area<br />

features -- birding capital, boating<br />

capital, beach wildlife, and preserves.<br />

Bridge Construction Map<br />

Responding to concerns from visitors and our industry partners, the PR Department oversaw the creation and<br />

distribution of a PDF map showing county transportation routes and the current bridge construction projects that<br />

are underway. <strong>The</strong> CVB map features information on the construction projects and alternative transportation<br />

routes to the area.<br />

mailed or printed on a color printer.<br />

Tampa<br />

Bay Watch<br />

Wit met with<br />

the directors of Tampa Bay Watch to talk about joint marketing and promotional efforts relating to the new offerings by the non-profit group. Tampa Bay<br />

Watch is a non-profit stewardship program dedicated exclusively to the charitable and scientific purpose of protecting and restoring the marine and wetland<br />

environments<br />

of the Tampa Bay estuary. <strong>The</strong>y organize citizen volunteers, visitors, students, at-risk youth, and civic organizations to participate in hands-on<br />

environmental projects while heightening community awareness of the fragile nature and importance of the environment.<br />

Honda Grand<br />

Prix of St. Petersburg<br />

<strong>The</strong> entire CVB PR department<br />

<strong>as</strong>sisted in hosting the media attending the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg March 31- April 2. We also worked with Andretti-Green<br />

Racing and the City of<br />

St. Petersburg to promote the area to print and broadc<strong>as</strong>t media attending the race.<br />
