Properties file
The properties file is a text file that contains a set of properties and their
corresponding values. These properties define the operational environment of the
gateway, such as connection details and the location of the other configuration
files.
Configuring the properties file
Before running the gateway for the first time, you must configure the installed
properties file.
To configure the properties file, use the following steps:
1. Copy the example properties file, NCO_GATE.props, fromthe
$OMNIHOME/gates/snmp directory to the following directory: $OMNIHOME/etc.
2. Edit the remaining values in the properties file to suit your operating
environment.
Properties and command line options
You use properties to define the operational environment of the gateway. You can
override the default values by editing the properties file.
The following tables describe the properties available with the SNMP Writer
Gateway. For more information about generic and Inter-Process Communication
(IPC) properties and command line options, see the IBM Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus
Probe and Gateway Guide (SC23-6387).
The following sections describe the properties used to configure the gateway:
v “Gateway-specific properties” on page 11
Common Netcool/OMNIbus properties
Table 5 describes the available Netcool/OMNIbus common properties.
Table 5. Common Netcool/OMNIbus properties
Property name Command line option Description
Help boolean -help boolean Use this property to instruct
the gateway to display
application help information
on startup and exit.
MaxLogFileSize integer -maxlogfilesize integer
The default is FALSE.
Use this property to specify
the size (in bytes) that the
gateway allocates for the log
file. When the log file reaches
this size, the gateway renames
the log file by appending the
name with the suffix .old and
creates a new log file.
