Quick to mount on all
spindle configurations:
• ANSI American Standard
Chucks for A1 and A2 spindles
• Taper-Key Drive Chucks for
#00, #0, #1, #2 spindles
• Cam-Lock Chucks for D1-3",
D1-4", D1-5", DI-6" and D1-8"
spindles
• Threaded-Nose Chucks for
2 1 ⁄4" - 8 TPI spindles
• Plain-Back Chucks for 5", 5 3 ⁄4",
and 6 1 ⁄4" plain-back spindles
Hardinge-Sjogren Speed Collet Chucks provide greater collet capacity, reduced
machining time and increased accuracy as compared to using a 3-jaw chuck. The
manual chuck easily mounts to your lathe’s spindle, enabling the use of precision
hardened and ground collets.
The 5C Hardinge threaded or taper spindle nose versions allow the use of step
chucks with closers for larger diameter secondary operation work. The 5C and 3J
spindles can accept Hardinge Sure-Grip ® Expanding collets which grip parts with
1 ⁄ 2" (12.70mm) to 4" (101.60mm) bores.
Increase Capacity: The Hardinge-Sjogren Speed Collet Chuck increases the lathe’s
capacity 25% to 40% compared to a lathe with a standard collet closing attachment.
The Hardinge-Sjogren Speed Collet Chuck takes advantage of the full spindle bore
— there is no draw tube.
Save Time: An almost effortless turn of the hand wheel automatically opens or
closes the collet, releasing or gripping the workpiece as desired. The chuck is easily
adjusted to grip a thin wall part which may be crushed with a standard collet closer.
Use Precision-machined or Emergency Collets: The Precision-machined collets
provide an extremely long life and superior TIR as compared with a 3-jaw chuck.
The emergency collet is for chucking diameters when a standard Precision-machined
collet is not available.
For Manual Machines
Use standard 5C, 2J, 3J and 22J collets on toolroom
lathes, engine lathes, and grinding machines to increase
your machine capacity!
CAUTION: Hardinge-Sjogren Speed Collet Chucks are designed to operate at speeds of 4,000 rpm
or less. Chucks that feature a Hardinge threaded- or taper-nose spindle should not be operated in
excess of 3,000 rpm when a step chuck with closer is used.
