FX (1) FX(l)
NAME
fx - filters nroffi1) output to Epson FX-series printers.
SYNOPSIS
nroff -Tfx files I col -xfp I fx l ip -dprinter_R
DESCRIPTION
Input to ft can be either nroff or col(1) output .f.t'soutput should be sent
to raw lp.
ft translates the tty-37 vertical motion codes (ESC-7, ESC-8, ESC-9) to
the correct Epson FX vertical motion codes. ft issues the correct commands
for all reverse or forward line motion whether 118" or 116" line
spacing is set The default value is 116" line spacing. ESC-0 sets 118"
line spacing, and ESC-3 sets 116" line spacing.
Col only accepts two-character escape codes; since several printer functions
are controlled by longer escape sequences, ft translates twocharacter
escape sequence aliases to their correct forms, permitting use
of col with ft.
The following translations are performed on input characters:
ESC-DC2 cancel compressed print
ESC-DC4 cancel expanded print
