• tbl(1)- the nroffpreprocessor used to format tables.<br />

• neqn(1) - the nroff preprocessor used to format mathematical<br />

equations.<br />

• Various filters to modify nroff's output to work correctly with certain<br />

printers: col(1), 300(1), 4014(1), 450(1), 470(1), 478(1), fx(1),<br />

greek(l), hp(l) and hplj(l).<br />

• mm(1)- shell program that invokes nroff with the mm macros and<br />

appropriate output filters.<br />

• man(1)- shell program that invokes nroff with the man macros and<br />

appropriate output filters.<br />

• osdd (description in mm(l) manual page) - shell program that<br />

invokes nroff with the mm and mosdd macros.<br />

• Programs to assist in checking documents:<br />

- spell(1)- checks documents for spelling errors.<br />

- checkmm(1)- checks for mm macro syntax errors in documents.<br />

- hyphen(1) -finds hyphenated words, useful to proofread nroff's<br />

hyphenation.<br />

- diffmk(l) - marks differences between two versions of a<br />

document.<br />

• Programs to assist in producing indices:<br />

- ndx(1)-produces a subject-page index of a document (new for<br />

this release).<br />

- subj(1)- generates a list of subjects from a document, which can<br />

be used by ndx (new for this release).<br />

- ptx(1)- produces a permuted index of a document.<br />
