Installing a New <strong>System</strong><br />

To install the <strong>INTERACTIVE</strong> <strong>UNIX</strong> <strong>System</strong>, read and follow the installation<br />

instructions in the INTERACTNE <strong>UNIX</strong> <strong>System</strong> Installation Guide. You will also<br />

need the serial number and authorization key that are printed on the serial<br />

number card. Keep this card in a safe place at all times.<br />

Updating INTERACTWE <strong>UNIX</strong> <strong>System</strong>s<br />

Users must have installed the <strong>INTERACTIVE</strong> <strong>UNIX</strong> <strong>System</strong> Version 4.1 Core<br />

subset before attempting to install any other Version 4.1 subset on an older<br />

version of the <strong>INTERACTIVE</strong> <strong>UNIX</strong> <strong>System</strong>. In addition, when installing the<br />

4.1 update-only package, the previous version of each subset (for example,<br />

Version 4.0) must be present.<br />

After updating to the 4.1 release, users must run /etc/kconfig and<br />

reconfigure the HPDD, even if the HPDD had been configured before.<br />

After installing the 4.1 release or updating to 4.1, when exiting and shutting<br />

down the system, the following message can be ignored:<br />

malloc on process table copy: Not enough space<br />
