Charge to the Retention Committee
The ULM Retention Committee developed these Goals, Key Strategies and
Action Plans with two guiding forces, The Board of Regents Master Plan
and Dr. Cofer’s goals established for student enrollment.
The Board of Regent, State of Louisiana, Master Plan for Public
Postsecondary Education: 2001, has established specific goals which will
drive the “formula for equitable distribution of funds to the institutions of
postsecondary education.”
The Board of Regents have adopted three primary goals in their vision for
Louisiana. They are:
I. Increase Opportunities for Student Access and Success;
II. Ensure Quality and Accountability;
III. Enhance Services to Communities and State.
For Goal I Increase Opportunities for Student Access and Success:
Objective I Increase participation in public postsecondary
education 2 percent by 2005.
Objective II Increase minority participation in public
postsecondary education 5 percent by 2005.
Objective III Increase the percentage of first-time, full-time
entering freshmen retained to the second year in
community colleges and universities 5 percentage
points by 2005.
