The Student Health Center is located on Bayou Drive, adjacent to the “Foot
Bridge”, with the entrance on the Bayou side. Students are urged to avail
themselves of the Student Health Center services whenever necessary or
desirable. Students must present their I.D. card and are served on a “First
Come, First Served” basis except in cases of emergency. Each student must
see a nurse before a doctor’s appointment will be made.
The Student Health Center Staff is the final review and approval agency for
students’ Proof of Immunization Compliance Forms (Louisiana R.S. 17:170)
and for students’ off –campus housing requests based in significant medical
conditions. The Student Health Center staff will assist students in
transferring records to the proper form and referring students to complete
proper immunization.
XVI. Services for students with Special Needs
The University Counseling Center offers a number of opportunities to students
with special needs. Whether a physical limitation or a learning disability, the
center works with the student to eliminate or lessen these obstacles to their
education. Services of the Center include the provision of support to students
with permanent or temporary exceptionalities, individual counseling, assistance
with academic accommodation recommendations to students and faculty, in
addition to heightening the awareness of the issues associated with special
needs obstacles to name but a few. Housing accommodations as well as
designated parking for these students are facilitated by this and other
departments on campus.
Parking Procedures for Students with Special Needs
Students with special needs are provided accommodating parking on the
university campus. The student, upon documentation of the special need, is
assigned a Special Needs Parking Pass by the University Police Department.
Procedures to secure a Special Needs pass can be obtained at the University
Counseling Center.
