ACTION PLAN
GOAL 6: Increase retention of Fall 2003 Sophomores by one percent from 68.9 percent to 69.9 percent.
KEY STRATEGY A: Enhance opportunities for campus involvement.
IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE/TIMETABLE

Continue to renovate the residential halls to make them more
attractive to students and encouraging students to live on
campus.
Actively promote the passing of the student referendum for the
Student Union Building (SUB) renovations.
Add ULM Student Organizations to the list of those to
communicate with regarding University programs and activities
in order to promote the student organizations’ participation in
ULM events in general. (E-mail Accounts required as of Spring
’03)
Review policies regarding student organizations, making
revisions that facilitate creating new student organizations.
Hire an experienced Coordinator of Greek Life and Leadership
in order to revive the Greek system on campus and create
cohesion, vision and direction amongst the Greek system on the
whole as well as develop student leadership.
Review Student Organization Advising Policies, streamlining in
order to make advising easier and more appealing to present and
potential advisors. Ensure that each advisor is a good match to
the student organization
Have all ULM student organizations participate in the
Organizational Fair during WOW
Promote cohesion among student organizations by bringing all
organization officers together in a council for
leadership/organizational development and to facilitate
communication. (SOS Program – Mandatory Participation)
Restore financial/Personnel resources to the entire division of
student affairs – hire Coordinator of Greek Life and Leadership
and Substance Abuse Counselor, fill vacant positions in order to
re-establish manpower needed to administer and implement
student affairs programming and make needed salary equity
adjustments in order to keep staff.
