Editorial
Dear motorcycle fans,
This year, an exciting anniversary awaits us. A whole
quarter century has now passed since we at Wunderlich
came up with our first products and ideas. This
means that you, our customers, have since 1985 been
turning common-or-garden two-wheelers into highly
personalised motorcycles. With our commitment and
enthusiasm we were then - and still remain - at the
cutting edge of the blue-and-white brand‘s accessories
market.
We have often been copied, which is something we are proud of. You know you‘ve
got a good product when everyone else wants to cash in on it too. But we are the
original. This applies just as much to our team, members of which are not infrequently
courted by our competitors. Happily, however, our capable staff members,
the nucleus of our success, have stayed loyal to the team. This includes some who
were there right at the start, such as departmental managers Peter Hoppe, Ingrid
Ulrich and Peter Decker. Alexander de la Motte, deputy managing director, has also
been with us for more than 15 years. We are really proud of the stability of our team,
of the large number of trainees who come to us, and of the fact that we can offer so
many of them a job at the end of their training.
The On Road Catalogue that you are now holding offers you an enormous
range of high-quality, practical and attractive accessories. You too can use
them to turn your BMW into a perfect machine to reflect your individuality.
We also owe our success to the fact that you appreciate
our products. Considerably more than 30,000
participants followed the call to choose their Best
Brand of 2010, using their votes to give Wunderlich
first place in the Customising category. We are proud and delighted to have received
this accolade in our anniversary year: we would like to offer those who voted
for us a resounding thank-you and to assure you that we see this vote both as a
confirmation of what we have done so far and as encouragement to do even better
in the future.
We have been living for motorcycles for 25 years. My team and I will be delighted if
you, our customers, will join us in doing the same in the future.
Erich Wunderlich
Important comment: The parts sold by us are road legal and approved for use in
Germany/Europe. Please make sure that they are road legal in your country - your
Wunderlich dealer will be happy to provide you with information.
Just one quick closing remark: We are of course delighted that so many of our
customers are lady bikers. We would appeal to you particularly not to take offence at
the fact that most of the texts in our catalogue have for the sake of simplicity been
written from a male perspective, even though many of our products have been developed
in response to wishes expressed by our female bike-riding staff members.

Research and Development
at Wunderlich
Hundreds of the high-quality in-house products listed
in our catalogue have been adopted as a matter of
course by BMW riders. Just how much time and
expense goes into the development of every individual
part is something that does not normally come
to light.
Our technicians, engineers and developers meet at
least once a week in a roundtable session. In these
sessions, furious thinking takes place, and ideas
come up. These are put through their paces on the
metaphorical test bed - to be consigned to the bin,
discussed, played with, or worked out in greater
detail. When these development meetings take place
Wunderlich - machining centre with automated tool change allows for the fully automatic, round-theclock
creation of complex forms
at Wunderlich, the creativity knows no bounds. Erich
Wunderlich sees his team as a forge for hammering
out ideas. Most of the ideas on new, innovative products
come up in-house or are developed in collaboration
with selected partner companies.
If the meeting approves of an idea, the following questions
are asked: Does the product have any chance
on the market? Is there already something out there
like it? What does the marketing department think
of it? And finally, can it even be done? If a decision
is made to take it further, the new product makes
the first step from theory to practice in the form of
a preliminary drawing. If the part in question is to be
turned, machined or made of formed sheet metal, the
next step is to create a 3D CAD drawing which forms
the basis of a first prototype to be made in one of
the firm‘s two in-house machining centres or in the
prototype workshop. Meticulous hand work leads to
the creation of a model which is usually subjected to
initial testing procedures.
If the idea in question is for a complex 3D product, a
volume model made out of easily malleable material,
such as Claytone (a kind of modelling clay), is created
to work out aspects of design, form and function.
It is at this point that Wunderlich‘s ultra-modern
research and development institutions get involved:
The completed model is scanned using a modern 3-D
laser scanner, and the surface, form and dimensions
are imported into the CAD system with a high degree
of precision. A so-called Rapid Prototyping printer
is now used to create the actual prototype itself out
of the 3-D functional model using a plastics printing
procedure (similar to a LaserJet, this however uses a
jet of plastic to create three-dimensional forms). Two
CNC machining centres are also available. The test
sample is then given the first of its final polishes by
being adapted to the vehicle.
The real test, of course, takes place in practice. The
components are tested, placed under load, checked
and evaluated again and again until they reach their
utmost limits of tolerance. Whether on the racetrack
or in the course of extensive and thorough trials in all
four corners of the world, each and every part has
to prove its worth under extreme conditions. Some
products may also be withdrawn and chucked away
at this stage of the development process - which is of
course what it is for.
Once all the hurdles mentioned so far have been
cleared - and the bar is set very high - what follows
is the secret fear of some bikers: the TÜV (technical
certification) test. Thanks to our high product and
quality standards, dialogue with the TÜV Rheinland
organisation is no problem whatever. It‘s not for nothing
that Wunderlich was one of the very first firms in
the motorcycling sector to be certified according to
the DIN/EN/ISO 9001:2001 standard, which meets
the standards of the German Federal Office for Motor
Traffic (KBA). The processes that are precisely defined
and supervised by this standard provide the guarantee
that all safety-relevant regulations and provisions
are fully observed. It goes without saying, of course,
that the testers go into the most minute detail in the
course of their rigorous tests and checks.
Finally the product is finished and approved for road
use. It is not unusual for this period from the very first
idea to final approval to last five to six months; in the
case of new technologies the wait can be as long as
three years. It is completely in line with our intentions
that not every product makes it into mass production.
„We have to allocate a certain share of our budget to
the promotion of innovative products which can then
provide impetus or serve as prototypes in a quest to
push the limits of the possible,“ explains company
boss Erich Wunderlich. As an example of this he cites
the costly and labour-intensive development of a
road-legal natural gas conversion for motorcycles.
Although this never made it into mass production,
the project nonetheless generated huge amounts of
valuable experience for the whole development team
and was a real boost to technical progress. „One of a
whole lot of developments that were gratefully seized
on by the competition and passed off as their own,“
observes the head of R & D, Frank Tholey, with a wry
glint in his eye.
The vast majority of the products that make it through
to mass production is, of course, meant for the customer.
So the next step is production. At Wunderlich
we do initial and small production runs. For large
production runs the company works with various different,
appropriately qualified cooperation partners.
High quality standards are just as important here as
they would be in house. Nothing is done on the cheap
- there is nothing but the best of rigorously monitored
German manufacturing. Wunderlich‘s partner firms
are mostly located in the same region as we are. Close
cooperation, regular consultation and regular monitoring
are the rule rather than the exception. This means
security for both parties - to the ultimate benefit of
you, the customer.
You might be forgiven for thinking that manufacture
brings a product‘s development cycle to a close. This
is almost the case. It would be the end of the story if
it weren‘t for the small matter of fitting or user instructions.
Thomas Schumann, workshop foreman and
head of the test workshop: „We take great care over
this point - after all, we know how annoying it can be
to be confronted with inaccurate or over-complicated
instructions. In fact, we take just as much care in the
creation of usable and user-friendly descriptions for
use by the layman as we do in product development.
And if even that isn‘t good enough, our phone support
people are on hand to give further help.“
It must by now have become clear just how much
effort and expenditure goes into the development
of our products for our customers. High quality, fair
value for money and, above all, the highest possible
degree of safety are all values which come to the fore
at Wunderlich.
25 Wunderlich Years
25 years of functional products for the perfect,
individual motorcycle
We extend our thanks to all our customers
and business partners. In 2010 we shall
be celebrating our 25th anniversary. For a
quarter of a century the name of Wunderlich
has been inseparably connected with
the Yamaha and BMW brands.
The story of Wunderlich GmbH began in
Erich Wunderlich‘s parents‘ garage.
An 8-page, manually typed catalogue was
produced presenting the first products
such as the innovative direct lubrication
system for the overhead camshaft.
After two years the garage became too
small, and we moved into a warehouse
at the station in Ahrweiler. The products
ranged from chassis optimisation kit to
performance enhancement, and, in 1988,
our present-day production manager, Peter
Hoppe, became our first employee.
The path we had chosen had long since
proved to be the right one, and our second
relocation into an idyllic old vineyard
with more than 1000 m22 of warehousing
space became essential as early as 1989.
The purchase of an R 100 GS marked the
start of our love affair with BMW, and our
first trade show appearance at the IFMA
in Cologne in 1991 caused something of a
splash. Just one year later, our catalogue
was extended to a print run of 5,000,
with 67 pages covering more than 200
products. Four years further on, the catalogue‘s
print run had reached 20,000, and
Wunderlich decided to focus exclusively
on BMW.
Things went on happening fast. The workforce
grew continuously, and another
move - not to be our last - took place to
our first fully-owned premises in Bodendorf.
Since 2004 we have been in Sinzig,
where 3 buildings provide enough space
for all our departments, from administration
to R & D and warehousing.
„25 years“ may just trip off the tongue, but
the fact is that our youngest employees
weren‘t even born then; a quick look back
confirms that it has been a long time.
1985 At 17, Boris Becker becomes the
first German to win Wimbledon.
Erich Wunderlich sets up the company at
the parental home in Ahrweiler. The first
catalogue appears: 8 pages in size, typed
on the typewriter of Alberto, Wunderlich
senior. Focal point of the catalogue: As the
young Wunderlich was a fan of muscular
torque, it of course had to be the legendary
one-lungers from Yamaha: the XT and the
SR 500.
1986 The Soviet Union launches the core
module of the space station „Mir“ into orbit.
Development of a direct lubrication system
for the single cylinder‘s overhead camshaft.
The first production run exceeds the
budget by many multiples. The first advert
is run to great acclaim in „Tourenfahrer“
(German motorcycle magazine).
1987 The USA starts to create the GPS
network.
Things get too tight in the parental home,
and the first move becomes necessary. An
office with attached warehouse is hired at
Ahrweiler station at a peppercorn rent. The
product spectrum ranges from chassis
improvements right up to expensive and
complex performance enhancements.
1988 George Bush senior is elected president
of the USA.
Development, customer services and
sales become too much for one person
to manage. The first employee is hired.
He is Peter Hoppe, present-day production
manager and one of the pillars of the
company.
1989 Fall of the Berlin Wall.
The old warehouse is bursting at the
seams. The firm moves into an idyllic old
Erich Wunderlich (left) and Peter Hoppe (right) in 1994 in front of the firm‘s former
premises in Ahrweiler.
vineyard in Ahrweiler with more than 1000
m2 of warehousing space. The first BMW
appears in the company fleet. It is an R
100 GS.
1990 The leaning tower of Pisa is closed to
the public for safety reasons.
The youngest of Wunderlich‘s current employees
is born. The break with the Yamaha
motorcycle brand is on the horizon.
1991 „Ötzi“, a glacier mummy of more than
5,000 years in age, is found in the border
region between North and South Tyrol.
The first appearance at the IFMA trade
show in Cologne. Wunderlich presents
the first converted R 100 GS with double
headlights, double rear lights and many
other refinements.
1992 The XXV summer Olympic Games
take place in Barcelona.
The first independent BMW accessories
catalogue is published. At 67 pages in
length, it covers a range of more than 200
accessories and has a print run of 5,000
copies.
1993 Boris Yeltsin wins the first democratic
elections to be held in Russia.
The R 1100 GS is introduced: a milestone
in the history of the BMW model and confirmation
that the firm has placed its trust
in the right brand.
1994 Sony introduces the first Playstation
in Japan.
This is the year of the new R 1100 GS,
which also finally catalyses the firm‘s complete
switch of focus to the BMW brand.
1995 Jacques Chirac is elected president
of France.
The success of Munich‘s finest assures
continuous growth at Wunderlich. On
average, more than 50 parcels of accessories
leave the firm‘s premises each day.
1996 The XXVI summer Olympic Games
take place in Atlanta/USA.
Development of the ERGO seat benches
and touring screens.
1997 The Labour Party under Tony Blair
The headquarter in 2009 with offices, shop and dispatch
warehouse (1), the first completed section of the high rack
warehouse (2) and the R & D department (3). On the right can
be seen a part of our testing area and some of the outlying
units (white garages), such as the motor power testing station
and the archive etc.
wins the British General Election.
The number of employees has risen to 12.
5 of these are responsible full-time for customer
service: in person and on the phone.
1998 A 3-0 win over Brazil wins the French
football team the World cup in Paris.
A catalogue is now produced annually with
a year-on-year increase in the number of
products. In-house developments form an
increasingly important part of the product
range. First appearance at the INTERMOT
trade show in Munich.
1999 Johannes Rau is elected president of
the Federal Republic of Germany.
Insufficient warehousing space, confined
offices and a lack of customer parking
forces the firm to move yet again: this time
to Bodendorf.
2000 Michael Schumacher wins the Formula
1 Drivers‘ Championship for Ferrari.
Wunderlich becomes one of the first of the
few firms in the motorcycling sector to be
certified according to DIN/EN/ISO 9001,
allowing the company to apply for TÜV
certificates. Wunderlich is represented for
the first time in its own right at the INTER-
MOT with a 65 m2 stand. This is a glittering
success: Importers from all over the world
almost have to fight for the rights to sell
in their own countries what has become
a very comprehensive range of BMW accessories.
2001 The Czech Republic wins the World
Ice Hockey Championship, beating Finland
in the final.
Wunderlich GmbH becomes the first firm
in the motorcycling sector to be certified
according to DIN/EN/ISO 9001:2000,
which meets the standards of the German
Federal Office for Motor Traffic (KBA).
2002 _Introduction of the Euro.
The first office containers are erected on
the site at Bad Bodendorf. The premises
are once again close to capacity. The
Yamaha business area is wound up to allow
a complete focus on the development
and testing of BMW products.
2003 Concorde flies from New York to
Paris for the very last time.
Four large, white sea containers have now
been put up on the Wunderlich site. The
hottest summer in a century is great for
motorcycle users; however, temperatures
in the office containers occa-sionally top
40° C. The first plans are laid for a new
building in the industrial estate at Sinzig.
2004 The Greek football team under Otto
Rehhagel wins the European Championship.
In January 2004 the firm moves into its new
home on the Kranzweiherweg. Wunderlich
lays on the first Open Day, which is celebrated
by more than 1000 customers.
2005 Angela Merkel is elected chancellor
of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Wunderlich celebrates its 20th anniversary
and looks forward to the next 20 years!
2006 The football World Cup takes place
in Germany.
Acquisitions include a 3D printer for Rapid
Prototyping, a 3D laser scanner and a new
CNC milling machine.
2007 Germany beats Poland to become
world handball champion.
The „Classic“ catalogue, the 19th edition
of the Wunderlich catalogue, is published.
Nine new members of staff are taken on (R
& D, marketing, sales, purchase, dispatch,
accounts).
2008 Barack Obama is elected president
of the USA.
A new high rack warehouse with a capacity
for 524 pallets and a floor area of some
600 m2 is built.
2009 Pilot Chesley B. Sullenberger avoids
a disaster by ditching his plane in the Hudson
River in New York.
The OnRoad catalogue, which comprises
around 700 pages, is published with a print
run of 40,000.
2010 2010 Wunderlich celebrates its 25th
anniversary and offers its congratulations
to Sarah Hughes, Tianna Madison, Lily
Allen, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lewis Hamilton,
Michael Phelps and all others born in 1985.
This year, as a special gift, the readers
of „Motorrad“ magazine vote us the Best
Erich Wunderlich:
My GPS (satnav) recommendations
I find it difficult myself when I am confronted
by an impenetrable jungle of offers. So I
have put together what are just my own
recommendations, which might serve as a
starting point for some people:
TomTom Rider
In my opinion, the best menus and intuitive
operation. The map information is superior
to most of its competitors. It comes with
everything you will need. A single system
including Bluetooth head-set that will not
confront even amateurs with impossible
tasks. Recommendation: this system is
designed for anyone who appreciates the
ease of the TomTom car navigation systems
and is looking for an addition to their
motorcycle that is as easy to use as possible.
Even long-distance travel, to Brazil for
example, is now no problem as there are
already maps available for many countries
outside Europe.
Garmin zumo 660
For worldwide travellers who also want a
visual representation of their off-road position
or who include geo-caching and other
outdoor activities among their hobbies. The
Bluetooth head-set is not included in the
price, but, on the other hand, the system
has a stereo jack audio output as well as the
Bluetooth interface. Other positives include
the fact that the zumo has a large screen
and integrated loudspeaker, and the holder
kits for cars and motorcycles are included.
Recommendation: an all-round companion,
designed for outdoor and off-road applications
using the maps available. The logic of
the navigation software seemed very complicated
to me and not very user-friendly.
Garmin nüvi 550 allround
The little brother of the “zumo 660”. Also
with an integrated loudspeaker, but without
an interface for the audio output. Car holder
included. Recommendation: if all you look
at are maps or you have very good hearing
(instructions are only given through the integrated
loudspeaker), the “nüvi 550” is fine
as an all-rounder designed for outdoor and
off-road applications using the maps available.
The logic of the navigation software
seemed very complicated to me and not
very user-friendly in this case either.
Becker CROCODILE
If this device had a waterproof audio output
and/or Bluetooth, for me it would be
the strongest competitor to the TomTom
Rider. The map coverage is perfect (it even
knows the smallest streets in southern
Spain) and with the additional tools (available
free of charge on the net) you can do
as much with this reasonably priced device
as with the Garmins. Can also be used
for geo-caching and other outdoor activities.
Integrated loudspeaker and car holder
included. Overall, a well-balanced satnav
that is easy to use for outdoor and off-road
activities, as well as street navigation. Very
detailed maps. Not as intuitive as the Tom-
Tom software, but more powerful.
MyNav Navigation Device
The satnav for the motorcycle, car, walks and outdoor
activities!
Just imagine riding on your bike into the Alps and being
able to enjoy the most charming off-road routes whenever
you want to!
For a long time this was only possible if you had several
GPS devices in your luggage, kept changing maps
or were prepared to make compromises in your route
planning.
But now those times are over: MyNav provides a navigation
solution that facilitates automatic route planning
and navigation with voice commands both on the streets
and off-road.
With more than 120,000 kilometres of bike routes and
380,000 kilometres or rural roads and trails, a wide variety
of individual routes can be put together.
The intuitive operation makes quick and easy navigation
possible. Switching from roads to off-road or the topo-
graphical view is is very easy. The altitude option that can
be switched on is just as helpful for challenging routes routes
as the the numerous pre-installed POIs (points of interest).
Navigation tip from the professional
Always take a large-scale map with you when you are using your
satnav. If you only use a satellite navigation system, over time you
Becker Crocodile
Modern technology in crocodile skin
It is excellent for navigating in the car and ideal for use
on motorcycle. The 4.3-inch widescreen riding display is
without equal for use on a bike. The visual route display
has very good resolution and can be seen easily in poor
visibility and with your visor down. While most navigation
systems only show the turn-by-turn option to be
displayed as an insert in the map, with the Becker Crocodile
a gentle touch on the screen allows you to switch
from map navigation to an arrow navigation mode that
fills the screen and has good contrast. The “Lane info”
function allows safe lane selection on multi-lane roads.
Comfort contributes to greater safety
The “Terrainview” option, which opens up to the horizon
in bright image quality, supports the rider in hilly terrain
and on winding journeys. For better orientation in towns,
buildings are shown as 3D models. As part of the range
of orientation aids, there are over 1000 photo-realistic
3D landmarks in European cities, such as the Reichstag
building in Berlin. The software provides various route
options: alongside the “motorcycle” mode, there are
also the “lorry”, “car” and “pedestrian” modes.
For longer journeys or tours, the integrated route planner
provides good service. Complete routes can be put
together with it, by entering en-route destinations, for
example, from the extensive range of POIs (points of
interest), by adding destinations already visited or by
entering known addresses directly.
The Becker Crocodile is ideal for international use and
is supplied with Navteq data for 42 European countries.
It can also speak 28 languages, some of them in various
voices. Tools such as the travel assistant with country
dial codes, a calculator and a world clock are often helpful
- and a collection of games provides entertainment
and relaxation on your travels.
Delivery includes a universal attachment system with
suction foot, an active cradle, a connection cable for the
cigarette lighter, a TMC antenna and a USB cable for
connection to your PC as standard.
NOTE: The Becker Crocodile is only splash-proof to
IPX4 standard and is not water proof.
Part No.: 8600801*
Make your Becker Crocodile safe and waterproof ...
The Becker Crocodile is only resistant to water splash! To attach
the navigation device securely to your motorcycle and make it
waterproof, we recommend the MultiPod in combination with our
TomTom Rider I “Extreme” holder incl. theft-proof mechanism
Wunderlich
TomTom Rider II - “Extreme” Bracket
This bracket has got a tight grip on the TomTom Rider II:
the lockable bracket deters those with “sticky fingers”
and gives the device a firm hold.
The satnav is held all round by a strong metal cage,
while the soft, vibration-absorbent inner lining prevents
dents and other damage.
Connection to the vehicle is made by means of the
unique MultiPod holder system, which can be adjusted
in all directions down to the last millimetre. The MultiPod
is also usable as a versatile holder for cameras,
camcorders, etc.
The “Extreme” bracket is made of 3 mm-thick, laser cut
aluminium, is very warp-resistant and withstands even
violent impact. Exchangeable locking cylinders made
by known manufacturers are used. Every system is supplied
with two keys.
Of course, the “Extreme” bracket can also be mounted
in combination with the standard TomTom Rider II
bracket system.
The facts:
• Very strong and stable connection
• Theft-proof protection for the TomTom Rider II
• Can be used in combination with the MultiPod range and the
standard bracket.
• 3 mm-thick silver anodised aluminium design.
• Exchangeable locking cylinders.
• Vibration-absorbing inner lining that protects the case.
Wunderlich
TomTom Rider I - “Extreme” Bracket
Once many TomTom Rider devices were sold it quickly
became clear that the original Rider clamping bracket
was not one of the best features of the device. In combination
with the original attachment, there were numerous
problems with the power supply and sometimes a
device would be lost when the bracket broke.
As all customers who used the MultiPod system designed
by us were relieved of such irritations, it became clear
that the problem was somehow connected the original
holder clamping system.
Therefore we can offer a solution that complements the
original mirror attachment of the TomTom Rider in an
impressive way.
Using the special bolt designed by us to lock the clamp,
we have created a very strong, vibration-proof attachment
for the TomTom Rider while protecting it from theft.
The facts:
• Very strong and stable connection.
• Theft protection for the TomTom Rider.
• Reduction of electrical contact problems.
• Can be used in combination with the TomTom mirror bracket.
Part No.: 8600880
Wunderlich “ExtremeProtection” Satnav
Device Case with Sun Shield
This well-conceived case has a firm grip on the “zumo
660” and the Crocodile: The lockable case deters
thieves and gives the device a secure hold. The integrated
sun visor prevents reflections and thus ensures
that the screen is always very easy to read.
The satnav device is positioned inside the robust housing
made of high-strength ABS material. The soft,
vibration-absorbing inner lining prevents dents and
other damage.
Connection to the vehicle is carried out either by means
of the original bracket system or the unique MultiPod
holder. The MultiPod allows adjustment down to the last
millimetre in any direction, and is also pre-configured as
a versatile holder for cameras, etc.
The 3 mm-thick “ExtremeProtection” case is warpresistant
and withstands even violent impact. Exchangeable
barrel locks made by reputed manufacturers can be
used. Every system is supplied with two keys.
The facts:
• Very strong, solid attachment
• Integrated sun shield to make the display easier to read.
• Theft protection.
• Can be used in combination with the MultiPod range or the
standard holder.
• 3 mm thick, fibre-reinforced ABS material.
• Exchangeable barrel locks
• Vibration-absorbing inner lining that protects the case.
“zumo 660” and “crocodile” devices.
device case and the unique MultiPod holder system
make it possible to use satnavs permanently and
securely on motorcycles.
The set consists of the Wunderlich device case and a
suitable MultiPod holder that can be attached to a handlebar
clamp, or the fairing support of the R 1200 GS.
* Vehicle-specific fitting kit required. You can find this in the “MultiPod
Wunderlich Navigation Device Bracket
At last the GPS/satnav device is positioned where you
can see it. Now you can keep an eye on the display in
more tricky traffic situations without having to take your
eyes off the road for more than a split second.
When, as many do, you fix the satnav to the handlebar
clamps, the tank bag also often gets in the way and it is
harder to reach the ignition switch.
The facts:
• The device is optimally positioned in your field of vision.
• Improved navigation with better safety.
• Easier to operate.
• Adjustable angle.
• Simple to fit (no need to drill holes etc.).
You can’t necessarily see it from the outside, but we
have put a lot of work into the construction in order to
make it easy to fit.
Navigation components & accessories for your BMW
B Y W U N D E R L I C H
C O R D U R A
Also suitable for compact satnavs
Adaptable for smaller devices
The MediaBag can be fitted to the
MultiPod in seconds using the flat
device plate (optional)
Carrying cord
Foam plates reduce vibration
Waterproof grommet
Wunderlich MediaBag
Powered by
The first waterproof (will not withstand complete immersion)
and dust-proof utility pouch for just about any electronic
device such as GPS navigation systems, pocket
PC (PDA), iPod, etc.
A well thought-out and brilliantly designed concept that
offers optimal protection for your electronic device and
simultaneously allows unrestricted use of touch screens
and controls etc.
Always in sight
Using the two attachment tabs the soft, clear window of
the MediaBag is stretched tightly over the face of your
electrical device and held in position with Velcro on the
back (or fixed to a MultiPod). This acts as a second skin
for your device guaranteeing optimal clarity and excellent
access to the touch screen and/or buttons. Because
of the thin yet robust materials the device can remain
inside the bag during phone calls or for voice-operated
commands etc. Voice and sounds emitted are clearly
audible with most devices. Alternatively power and
audio cables can easily be routed to/from the device.
Safe location
The MediaBag is constructed of abrasion resistant
Teflon-coated Cordura fabric. The see-through skin is
made of highly flexible and UV resistant clear PVCglass.
When fitted to a MultiPod or similar mount the
foam plates provide optimal protection from vibration.
Manufacturing of this bag is entrusted to the well known
German company Ortlieb, experts in waterproof bags
of all sizes.
Extreme motorcycle test
The MediaBag has proven itself time and time again in
over 60.000 km of hard testing throughout Europe, Asia,
Africa and the Orient. Even in the toughest off-road conditions,
no technical problems of any kind have surfaced
nor has any device suffered any damage while in the
MediaBag. Even at speeds of over 200 km/h (125 MPH),
when used in conjunction with the specially designed
MultiPod, it will remain stable and secure. Guaranteed.
Because of the multitude of adjustment possibilities, the
MediaBag is equally well suited for use with virtually any
electronic device such as mobile phones, iPod etc.
When attaching the MediaBag to a motorcycle, the specially
designed MultiPod is recommended.
MediaBag Accessories
MultiPod / MediaBag Flat Carrier Plate
MediaBags. At the same time, it can be used to securely
is carried out by means of the supplied screw which fits
into the tripod mount. The plate is purpose made for the
MultiPod but will fit other mounting systems.
Contains 7 compartments with 4 different sizes. It fits
GPS vs. Map
Modern GPS devices make travelling
easier, no question. But however convenient
they may be, they can never
completely replace maps.
The saying is as old as it is true, and no
one knows who first coined it: “A GPS
shows you exactly where you are in the
desert when you are dying of thirst.” It
is also certainly true that modern GPS
systems can be an invaluable help, particularly
in inhospitable regions. Even on
a trip through the Alps, a region that is
perfectly well developed, an electronic
navigation aid is an exceptionally useful
tool. The device guides you along the
roads without difficulty, leads you reliably
to the next petrol station or shows
you how long it will take to reach your
destination.
But what happens if the technology goes
on strike? A circuit board works free,
there is a loose cable or a defective
memory card, and you are left in the
middle of the road without any guidance.
One fall and the electronics can
be on the way out. The batteries may
be flat or faulty. It can also often happen
to the GPS beginner that the route he
has entered laboriously is suddenly recalculated
and the original is lost forever.
Moreover, a blocked road, a diversion or
something similar can cause a problem.
Which other roads will take me where
I want to go? Which of the alternative
routes is the most attractive? What is
the terrain actually like on the road I’m
currently on? Questions that the GPS
cannot answer.
If you have not got a map to hand, then
you are stuck or you will not get to see
the beautiful landscape of the holiday
region you are visiting - which is just
as irritating. However practical satellite
navigation might be, the best detailed
view or overview of your planned route
is still provided by a map. There are
plenty of good reasons why maps show
important features of the landscape and
the infrastructure to scale. Does the route
run through attractive landscape or does
it have exciting bends? What is worth
seeing on either side of the road? Where
do the mountains and valleys run? What
is the vegetation like, will I be in full sun
or a shady wood? Isn’t it also true that a
map is much easier to use than any GPS
device? And, as we already mentioned,
it cannot break and does not depend on
any energy supply.
It remains a myth that any biker can manage
on the road with GPS alone and no
map. There may be the odd exception,
but to maintain a minimum of security
and flexibility, you cannot do without a
paper version. And in any case, is there
any greater pleasure when you are on a
long tour than to spend the evening tracing
the route that you will be following the
next day on a map?
“Interphone F4” Stereo Head-set
The Bluetooth hands-free kit with integrated intercom
system (also works as a communicator with the passenger).
As a result of the long range (over 500 metres) the
system can also be used between two riders (from one
motorcycle to another).
The technical features of the loudspeaker, microphone
and Bluetooth kit guarantee absolutely perfect call and
transmission quality. The available two mounting options
mean that the hands-free device fits anywhere.
The facts:
• Easy to mount and use.
• Hands-free kit for mobile phones with Bluetooth
• Wireless transmission of stereo music (A2DP)
• Voice output from satnav/GPS in your helmet (e.g. with the
TomTom Rider and Garmin)
• 100% waterproof, easy to hear even at high speeds up to 180
km/h
• 10 hours of talk time
• Multipoint for up to 3 devices (e.g. 1 phone + 1 intercom module
+ 1 stereo music player)
For intercom operation, 2 head-sets are required.
Navigation & Motomedia
Navigation components & accessories for your BMW
178 179
Part No.: 8600349
dimension. The update to the POV.1.5M presents a new
all-round helmet camera in an extended package and
with more accessories.
The most striking change is the optimised and therefore
smaller camera head, which is now firmly attached to
the cable. With this innovation, the POV.1.5M delivers
improved video quality and steadier image capture. In
addition, it is now possible to use an 8 GB SD card
without any additional upgrades. The practical remote
control now operates more reliably over a distance of
up to 3 metres.
The package includes a new type of bracket for any type
of helmet, a CD with tutorials on making videos and a
4 GB SD card.
Includes a 12 Volt adapter for the on-board motorcycle
power supply. As a result, the POV.1.5M can be connected
to the motorcycle to ensure a constant power
supply.
