Ann STevenS 

nn Hughes Stevens was born and raised 

A into a family of cattle producers. Cattle 

are still run on land called the “Dipping Vat” that 

belonged to her great-granddaddy since 1890. So 

named because people came from long distances 

to dip their horses and cattle. 

Ann and her husband, Horace, bought their first registered polled Hereford 

cattle in 1979 to run with their crossbred cattle. With her family, Susan, Mike, 

Steven and Sara, she runs a small registered/commercial herd now. A long-time 

member and consignor to the Northeast Texas Hereford Association, she was very 

instrumental in helping her daughter Susan and son-in-law Mike run the sale 

“behind the scenes” and served lunch for nearly 15 years. 

Horace and Ann, along with long-time friends Don and Ann Metch, started 

the Texas Harvest Sale that they were a part of for several years. Ann and Horace 

had several champions with their show cattle. The finest moment was when their 

young bull “Muscle” was reserve state champion bull. With her grandchildren, 

Steven and Sara, she has been able to continue to attend shows and sales 

throughout the years. 

Ann says that attending cattle shows, sales, Hereford functions and meeting 

wonderful people from everywhere has been a journey. She is very appreciative of 

the members of NETHA honoring her at their 60th sale which has been a part of 

her life for many years. 

Thanks Mother and Grandmother (Grandma to Sara!) for your help in making 

the NETHA a success, even when times were not so good! Sometimes we forget to

TERMS OF SALE 

CASH. Each animal will be sold to the highest 

bidder. The auctioneer will settle any disputes as to 

bids. All cattle are to be paid for by the purchaser 

during or immediately after the sale and will not be 

released until after settlement has been made, unless 

other arrangements have been made prior to the sale. 

Cattle will not be transferred until paid for in full. All 

animals in this sale become the immediate property of 

the buyer once they are sold. All buyers are expected 

to recognize this fact of their ownership and either 

accept full responsibility or else insure their animals 

before leaving the sale. Insurance will be available. 

Calf Scramble Certificates will be accepted. 

MAIL OR PHONE BIDS 

If you would like to place a bid on any lot but will not 

be able to be with us, we would be happy to handle 

mail or phone bids for you. Please direct them to the 

owners, the sale manager or any of the sale staff. 

ANNOUNCEMENTS 

All announcements at the sale by the owner or the 

auctioneer concerning the cattle will take precedence 

over statements in the sale catalog or any information 

on the supplement sheets furnished on sale day. We 

reserve the right to withdraw any sale lot not meeting 

our specifications prior to sale time. 

REGISTRATION CERTIFICATES 

The animals will be transferred to the buyer at the 

seller’s expense. Each buyer must be sure to give 

the clerk his proper name and address for making 

transfers. All calves born before the sale are to be 

registered by the seller; all born after the sale are 

to be registered by the purchaser. Proper breeding 

statements will be signed by the seller for the buyer 

to use in registering calves born after the sale. AI 

certificates will not be provided on sires not owned 

by consignor.

HEALTH 

All cattle will have health papers required for shipping 

within Texas and several other states. 

All females bred prior to January 1, 2012, will have 

been pregnancy examined. 

Breeding age bulls will be fertility tested. All bulls over 

one year of age will be trich tested. 

BREEDING GUARANTEE 

All cattle in this sale are guaranteed in accordance 

with the rules and regulations of the American 

Hereford Association. Any female which is stated to 

be pregnancy checked safe in calf is guaranteed to 

be pregnant at the time of this sale. All females safe 

in calf or with a calf at side are thereby considered 

breeders with no further guarantee. All females who 

have been serviced but not checked safe in calf carry 

no guarantee on this breeding. 

TRUCKING 

We will be happy to assist you with livestock 

haulers and in making the most economical delivery 

arrangements for your purchases. We recommend that 

insurance be obtained on lots purchased. 

NOTE 

As the sale managers, the Northeast Texas Hereford 

Association and Dennis Schock are only agents for 

the seller and have no responsibilities other than those 

involved in conducting the sale.
