Foods – IC Friendly Candies Okay, admit it. You LOVE chocolate but there are times when it irritates your bladder badly. Ten years ago, you tried an old, powdery carob bar in desperation. It was horrible! Well, times change and so doe’s carob. Just remember that all bladders are different. If you're in a flare, it's probably not a good idea to have any strong juices. It’s so acidic that it can irritate the bladder badly. The same is true for most herbal teas. All it takes is one herb (such as rose hips) in a tea bag to be metabolized as an acid and the bladder can be irritated. Even one cup of irritating tea a day can cause problems. But, we’ve found several herbal teas that are more IC friendly than many others. They might be worth trying. Don’t forget, if you’re in a flare and/or struggling with pain, the best hot beverage of all is just hot water and honey! Best of all, there are great titles to help us during specific times of need. If you're struggling with pelvic floor muscle tension, for example, the 'Relaxation' tape (and/or CD) is perfect. If you're struggling with pain, then try the 'Pain Control' tape. If you're worried about having a cystoscopy, then 'Operations Before and After' is a gem!
