In the past it has been over-collected for herbaria. Both the parents are rare in Britain but, where they are common and growing together on the European mainland, the hybrid forms freely. It is sterile and could only be confused with A. x contrei, which has a distinctly triangular frond. The records for v.c. 69 have not been confirmed this century. (See J.D.Lovis in C.A.Stace (ed.), Ioc.cit.: 110;1975; and A.H.G.Alston, loc.cit.: 132). a 4 3 65 2
