About<br />

<strong>Jarno</strong> <strong>Kettunen</strong> (<strong>F<strong>in</strong>l<strong>and</strong></strong>, <strong>1980</strong>)<br />

<strong>Lives</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>works</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>Atlanta</strong>, USA<br />

It’s simply impressive how effortlessly <strong>Jarno</strong> <strong>Kettunen</strong><br />

uses l<strong>in</strong>es <strong>and</strong> colors. With only a few strokes <strong>and</strong><br />

blurs of color he creates forms, which turn <strong>in</strong>to<br />

persons <strong>in</strong> front of our eyes.<br />

<strong>Kettunen</strong> leads us to the world of Haute Couture,<br />

on the catwalk. First rather abstract, his figures<br />

develop a sparkl<strong>in</strong>g vitality, a physical richness<br />

<strong>and</strong> dynamic, just as the draw<strong>in</strong>g process creates<br />

them: as a swift sketch. Quick, focused on the<br />

essentials, creat<strong>in</strong>g atmosphere, the persons seem<br />

to walk across the image space. Captured <strong>in</strong> the<br />

latency of their movements, they express the<br />

swiftness of <strong>Kettunen</strong>’s style. His <strong>works</strong> create<br />

curiosity to watch him pa<strong>in</strong>t <strong>and</strong> draw.<br />
