We are an organization dedicated to<br />

Research, Education and Conservation.<br />

We are a school that provides visiting<br />

professors and <strong>the</strong>ir students with all<br />

<strong>the</strong> components necessary <strong>for</strong> conducting<br />

<strong>University</strong>-level courses. We offer<br />

a large facility that can accommodate<br />

more than 50 students <strong>for</strong> room, board<br />

The WorldFish Center is an International<br />

non-profit organization whose<br />

mission is to reduce poverty and<br />

hunger by improving fisheries and<br />

aquaculture. WorldFish is <strong>the</strong> host <strong>for</strong><br />

ReefBase (www.reefbase.org), <strong>the</strong><br />

global in<strong>for</strong>mation system on coral<br />

reefs. This database provides quality in<strong>for</strong>mation<br />

relevant to <strong>the</strong> monitoring,<br />

conservation and management of coral<br />

reefs. Our exhibit will display<br />

brochures and database products from<br />

our global and regional projects as well<br />

as in<strong>for</strong>mation on <strong>the</strong> activities of <strong>the</strong><br />

WorldFish on tropical based and smallscale<br />

fisheries.<br />

EDUCATION CENTER SPECIAL EXHIBIT Our <strong>Reefs</strong>: Caribbean Connections<br />

Our <strong>Reefs</strong>: Caribbean Connections, a traveling exhibit, will <strong>for</strong>m <strong>the</strong> centerpiece of <strong>the</strong> Education Center display<br />

area. This is produced by Florida State <strong>University</strong>, updated from <strong>the</strong> Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute’s previous<br />

traveling exhibit by its original creators, Drs. Judith Lang and Janie Wulff. Veteran ICRS attendees will remember<br />

<strong>the</strong> original exhibit which premiered at <strong>the</strong> 8th ICRS in 1996. In stunning visual display, this exhibit<br />

explores major current challenges to regional reefs and showcases various local Caribbean responses. This special<br />

exhibit is open to <strong>the</strong> public in Hall A, during exhibit hours.<br />

A movie <strong>the</strong>ater? A running river? Rain? It’s all inside <strong>the</strong> new Wyland Clean Water Mobile Learning Center. Ready<br />

to roll in any school, community center, or museum, this partially bio-diesel powered, 1,000-square foot exhibit on<br />

wheels will change <strong>the</strong> way your community looks at water <strong>for</strong>ever.<br />

Become a Clean Water Challenge Agent<br />

Upon entering <strong>the</strong> mobile learning center students are recruited as CWC agents. A film with special effects begins<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir training and <strong>the</strong>y are tasked to solve mysterious disturbances in <strong>the</strong> health of our nation’s water habitats, with<br />

exhibits focusing on lake regions, river management estuaries, and ocean runoff.<br />

Coral Theater<br />

Venue <strong>for</strong> FREE educational presentations and demonstrations <strong>for</strong> teachers, students, and <strong>the</strong> general public, <strong>the</strong><br />

Coral Theater is sponsored by <strong>the</strong> Sou<strong>the</strong>ast Florida Coral Reef Initiative and <strong>the</strong> Florida Department of Environmental<br />

Protection Coral Reef Conservation Program. Topics include International Year of <strong>the</strong> Reef celebrations,<br />

coral reef conservation, Florida coral reef programs, and coral reef educational materials <strong>for</strong> teachers and students.<br />
